The further decline in the number of classified French hotels - a strong trend over the past four years - is once again linked to the independent hotel sector: according to figures published on 27 September by MKG Hospitality, the sector alone lost 12,300 rooms, in 634 hotels, over the course of 2011. Hotel chains were unable to make up for these losses, as the total number of hotel rooms fell by 1% in 2011. Against this backdrop, hotel groups are nevertheless increasing their market share: chain hotels now account for 43% of the supply, or even 50% if voluntary networks are taken into account, according to the MKG Hospitality report.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
