With the exception of luxury hotels, occupancy levels at French establishments remained down for the whole of the first quarter of 2012, but March saw a reversal of this trend for many of them. With the exception of the super-economy category, the various hotel categories recorded an increase in occupancy rates of between 1.4 and 2.2 points. More than occupancy, therefore, it is the average price that has continued to drive growth in hotel revenues since the start of the year. Over the first quarter, growth in the average price was moderate for budget hotels (+0.6%) and more marked for the higher categories with, in particular, +3.3% for the top of the range.
