The self-check-in service offered by Iberia is currently used by 60% of travellers. Not enough for the Spanish carrier, which intends to rely on a new, more efficient system to achieve an adoption rate of 90%. The new system, which was officially launched on 2 August in terminal 4 at Madrid-Barajas and is due to be rolled out to other airports served by the airline, offers solid arguments for achieving its objectives. The thirty or so kiosks equipped with the new software can print out a boarding pass or baggage tag in less than 30 seconds, according to the airline. New functions, such as the ability to pay baggage surcharges or to identify oneself by holding up one's passport instead of typing in its number, have been integrated into the self-check-in service, which has also improved the seat selection tool to make it more intuitive. \"The new programme is part of the \u00c1gora programme launched by Iberia to make Terminal 4 [at Madrid airport] one of the most efficient air hubs in the world, while helping to improve punctuality and the travel experience for passengers at the airport,\" sums up the Spanish airline.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
