What emerges is an environment that is both more mature and more cautious, making progress in terms of rationalising business travel, but seeing the associated investment stagnate. In fact, 63% of the professionals questioned described a stabilisation in the budget devoted to business travel, while the number of budgets on the decline fell from 21% to 14% between 2011 and 2012. \"While the previous edition of the EVP saw a return to growth in the travel item, 2012 was marked by a stabilisation in budgets, reflecting a strong wait-and-see attitude on the part of companies with regard to the current economic situation,\" sums up Eric Audoin, Chairman and CEO of American Express Business Travel in France.<\/p>\n<p>Once again this year, expenditure control is at the heart of the company's concerns - in fact, in 80% of cases, it is at the top of the list of priorities defined for 2013, ahead of expenditure optimisation and traveller safety - and this is reflected in the development of travel policies (PVE): in addition to major accounts, for which 90% have now been set up, small organisations are getting in on the rationalisation act, with 74% of SMEs and more than 50% of VSEs now having a PVE. Smaller companies also stand out for their more marked increase (+1.6%) in business travel-related expenditure. Looking beyond the figures, this 22<sup>th<\/sup> This year's EVP barometer will have identified the major current and future challenges facing business travel. Unsurprisingly, the mobility and security of business travellers are once again the focus of market players' attention this year, while booking times are becoming particularly strategic.
