With WiFi quality clearly becoming a key criterion for both leisure and business guests, hotels are investing massively in their Internet networks. Today, speeds of 100 Mbps are becoming the norm. In the meantime, 300Mbps, or even 1Gbps! More and more hotels are offering fibre optics, which provide a faster, more stable connection. This is essential, because there are major needs not only for downloading presentations, but also for uploading, for video conferencing via Skype or streaming video. While bandwidth is a strategic factor, the number of WiFi terminals is just as important. A new standard is emerging, with 5 GHZ terminals offering double the frequency. These terminals can simultaneously accommodate between 500 and 1,000 users, compared with around thirty previously.
