Do you see the launch of NH Collection in America as the most important step in the brand's history?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> Yes, we launched this Collection two years ago, and now the brand is going global. This is very important, not least because it's abouta region with great potential<\/strong> in terms of accommodation.<\/p>\n

Other hotels are already established in Latin America, so the choice of Mexico City as the venue for this launch is not insignificant...<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> We do have other Collection establishments in this zone, in Bogota for example. We we are now officially launching in Mexico<\/a>a leading destination. Our local partners are very interested in the idea of developing other NH Collection establishments, perhaps because this brand's profile matches the expectations of local customers.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Bosch -<\/strong> This property is our flagship in Mexico<\/strong> for NH Collection. That's why we've invested \u20ac7.6 million in the complete renovation of the hotel.<\/p>\n

What do all NH Collection hotels have in common?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> When a business traveller enters an NH Collection property, everything is tailored to their needs. We work on this right from the booking process to make sure that we not only meet their needs, but that we go above and beyond. Our hotel portfolio is made up of many establishments, in beautiful buildings, places with character. Depending on the destination, NH Collection hotels can be different. But in terms of services and standards guaranteed for business customers, each one meets the requirements of our customers.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Bosch -<\/strong> We offer different types of hotel, each with its own identity. In the early days, the NH group configured all its hotels in the same way, whatever the destination. This uniformity could have been seen as a weakness in the market, and it was thought that all NH hotels were the same. This is no longer the case, thanks in particular to the Collection brand, or with the Nhow's positioning<\/strong>our lifestyle brand which incorporates all the specific local characteristics of each destination. In my opinion, this brings real added value to the group.<\/p>\n

Is it easier for a group of Spanish origin to develop in Latin America, given the proximity between the two cultures?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> Absolutely. There are a lot of similarities. Arriving here, I felt at home<\/strong>. We are different, but there are so many similarities, in terms of habits, culture and gastronomy, as well as language, of course.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Bosch -<\/strong> It's easier to identify the specifics of expectations when you have so many things in common. We speak the same language, not necessarily because Spanish brings us together, but because we understand local needs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We want to develop in an intelligent way<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Are you aiming to catch up in the short term with the other hotel groups ahead of you in the region?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> If we focus on the urban market, this is not entirely true. Other groups do indeed have more rooms than NH Hotels in Latin America, thanks to their large hotels dedicated to the leisure market. But in terms of number of hotels, we are on the front line<\/strong>. And we're going to make even more progress, as many projects are currently under development.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Bosch -<\/strong> We don't want to grow for the sake of growing. We want to grow in an intelligent way that brings value to our customers and shareholders.<\/p>\n

What stage has been reached in the NH Hotels Group's strategic plan?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> It will come to an end in 2018, but we have already achieved and even exceeded all the objectives of this five-year plan in three years.<\/p>\n

How would you describe relations with your shareholder HNA since the tensions that arose over the summer?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> Our priority is to manage the company to the best of our ability. We do this every day.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Bosch -<\/strong> The management team remains focused on the plan that was already defined before the situation you mentioned. At 100%, we are focused on ensuring that this five-year plan runs smoothly.<\/p>\n

But the possibility of a merger with the Carlson hotel brands would change all that...<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> Of course you don't. Nobody knows what might happen. We don't have a crystal ball. This sort of thing happens every year in the hotel market. I'm not worried about it, simply because it's impossible to control these parameters. I don't torture my mind with things over which I have no control.<\/p>\n

We would like to have many hotels in France<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How far advanced are your plans for the French market, particularly in Paris?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s - <\/strong>We obviously have ambitions for the French market, with destinations such as Marseille, where an establishment will soon be opening its doors. Toulouse will also soon be joining our catalogue. It's no secret: we would like to have many hotels in France<\/strong>. Given the positioning of our hotels, we felt that France would offer a particularly favourable setting for the success of our brands, particularly Collection and Nhow. We are closely monitoring opportunities in Paris<\/strong>Both in the city centre and in the airport area. But it's quite complicated to set up there, and things haven't changed with last year's terrorist attacks. But we're keeping a very close eye on the opportunities that may arise for us in terms of development in Paris.<\/p>\n

So the particular context of the post-attack period hasn't altered your ambitions for Paris?<\/h3>\n

Ram\u00f3n Aragon\u00e9s -<\/strong> No, especially as we're not looking at this kind of project in the short term. Paris will remain one of the most attractive cities in the world<\/strong>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
