\"\u00a0The roll-out of Internet on board will be massive and rapid!<\/em>\u00a0\"The statement may be in the future tense, but it's in the present tense that this little revolution initiated by the SNCF is taking place. It's a phrase that business travellers have been dreaming of hearing for a long time, and now it's coming true. 15 December<\/strong> with the launch of TGV Connect<\/strong>. The service, which is free of charge, will be rolled out across the board next year. SNCF plans to 80% of TGV passengers will have access by the end of 2017<\/strong>. High-speed links to Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Rennes and Marseille will be the first to be affected.<\/p>\n

Business customers travelling in first class will benefit from this two-tier offer. In fact, the data envelope allocated to each passenger will reach 1 GB per journey<\/strong> in 1st<\/strong>and will include between 200 and 500 MB per second<\/strong> class. To illustrate its point, SNCF says that a passenger travelling from Lyon to Paris will be able to surf for more than an hour<\/strong> on social networks or send 60 emails<\/strong> with attachment.<\/p>\n

They will also be able to order their meal from their smartphone, before collecting it from the bar car, or book a taxi or hire car.
