706 per day, or just under \u20ac670: that's the average cost of a business trip to the UK. Geneva<\/a><\/strong>excluding transport, according to a study published on Tuesday by ECA. The international mobility specialist has therefore named the Swiss city as the most expensive in Europe for business travellers.<\/p>\n

The calculation made by ECA international<\/strong> takes into account the average cost of a four-star hotel ($373), plus food ($241) and urban transport and ancillary expenses ($93). The bill - the most expensive, therefore, for the Old Continent - is only slightly higher than in another Swiss destination. That's because.., Zurich<\/strong> is just behind its Geneva neighbour in the ECA rankings, with an average daily cost of $653. London<\/strong> ($579) completes the podium, but has dropped one place in the rankings due to the fall in the price of the pound following the Brexit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As Simon Franklin, Daily Rates Manager at ECA International, explains: \"The evolution of the exchange rate with the dollar plays a major role in this ranking. Swiss cities dominate the top 10 most expensive European destinations, due to the relatively strong Swiss franc against the dollar compared with other European currencies.<\/em> \". He added: \" Last year, the cost of a typical business trip to central London fell by around 13% in dollar terms, with the fall in the value of the pound against the dollar contributing to this phenomenon. Tourism and international business travel [to London] have been boosted by the fall in the value of the pound. However, from a local perspective, Central London has actually become more expensive over the last twelve months, with prices for four-star hotels rising, as well as for food and transport, which is bad news for British people travelling to the capital.<\/em> \".<\/p>\n

From his side, Paris<\/strong> ($577) ranks fourth in the ECA rankings, with an average daily cost two dollars lower than in London, while Sarajevo comes last.<\/p>\n

On a global scale, it is New York<\/strong> which is the most expensive destination ($790), Luanda<\/strong> (651), Muscat<\/strong> (501) and Tokyo<\/strong> (537) dominating the other regional rankings.<\/p>\n
