While the average price of the company's establishments fell by a logical 5.33%, mainly due to the security risk that penalised France as a destination in 2016, the number of overnight stays generated by the reservation centre showed very clear growth of 42.35 %. This figure is higher than the Group's worldwide results, which were also very favourable, with an increase of more than 21 % in central reservation sales and a rise of almost 20 % in overnight stays.<\/p>\n<p>In France, while the business clientele represents 55% of the establishments, the sales generated by the central office on the corporate segment - i.e. by the framework contracts concluded with the central office and the rates negotiated by hotel - increased by 9 %. On the other hand, Best Western France recorded a decline of 20% in seminar business, for both economic and internal reasons. With its teams back in full swing, the brand expects growth of 13% in this segment in 2017, although it is a minority segment for the network, which concentrates on recurring seminars and leaves its member hotels to manage one-off meeting requests directly.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58331\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58331\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWetsernPremierCollection-Regent-Contades-Strasbourg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-58331\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWetsernPremierCollection-Regent-Contades-Strasbourg.jpg\" alt=\"BestWesternPremierCollection-Regent-Contades-Strasbourg\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWetsernPremierCollection-Regent-Contades-Strasbourg.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWetsernPremierCollection-Regent-Contades-Strasbourg-300x200-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58331\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Regent Contades hotel in Strasbourg (Best Western Premier Collection).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Best Western Hotels &amp; Resorts had 3,718 establishments at the end of 2016, compared with 3,745 at the end of the previous year. Most of these are concentrated in North America (2,041 hotels) and Europe (1,256 hotels), while the group is continuing to establish itself in emerging countries, particularly in Africa, one of the new growth areas where the brand has 21 hotels and has registered several affiliations in South Africa, as well as in Zanzibar and Nairobi, Kenya. Asia and the Middle East (140 establishments) is also a priority, with a number of developments in the pipeline. For example, after taking its first global steps in Antalya at the end of 2016, Vib, Best Western's new design and high-tech brand, will appear in Seoul this year with the opening of two establishments. Vib's expansion will continue with around ten projects in the United States and around the world, with the arrival of this variation scheduled in France in 2018, at La Seyne-sur-Mer.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of 2016, the Best Western group had 16,059 rooms and 297 establishments in France, three more than in 2015, including new openings in Paris and the Ile-de-France region. Some twenty new projects are also in the pipeline. The chain's portfolio continues to move upmarket, as it did a few years ago. While the Best Western flag (three stars) remains in the majority with 228 establishments, its share of the total is down by 8%. At the same time, Best Western Plus (three-star superior) is up by 80%, with 45 hotels at the end of 2016, and much more in the very near future, as 60 establishments, formerly Best Western, will switch to the Plus label this year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58325\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58325\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWestern-Lourdes-RiveDroite.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-58325 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWestern-Lourdes-RiveDroite.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWestern-Lourdes-RiveDroite.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/BestWestern-Lourdes-RiveDroite-300x200-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58325\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">H\u00f4tel Le Rive Droite &amp; Spa in Lourdes, one of the new Best Western Plus hotels in France.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ultimately, the group intends to offer a more balanced range, with 45% of Best Western and 45% of Best Western Plus, with the remaining 10 % positioned at the very top end of the market. In this context, it is worth noting the presence in France of 17 Best Western Premier hotels (four or even five stars) and seven Best Western Premier Collection hotels, a new category designed to attract top-of-the-range independent hotels into the group's fold, which has appeared in Rennes, Lille, Strasbourg and on the outskirts of Toulouse.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of marketing and services, the implementation of the new visual identity that accompanies this move upmarket is continuing and will be fully finalised by the end of 2017. But it is above all the technological offering that is undergoing major change. The Best Western Rewards loyalty programme card is now entirely paperless, while the e-concierge application, rolled out in 2015, has undergone new developments.
