Is business tourism an important sector for Mauritius?<\/h3>\n

Kevin Ramkaloan<\/strong> - Business tourism now accounts for almost 10% of tourist arrivals, with the main markets remaining Europe with France and the UK. So it's an important segment, which initially developed thanks to the European markets and which we're trying to extend to other markets, in particular India and China, but also Africa and Central Europe.<\/p>\n

What are the destination's key assets?<\/h3>\n

K. R.<\/strong> - We have more and more modern facilities, but they retain a real Mauritian character. The convention centre near Port-Louis, the Grand Baie Centre and the many meeting rooms in the major hotels can accommodate more than 500 people. We also need to highlight our natural environment and tropical climate, which is pleasant all year round.<\/p>\n

What are the must-haves for incentive groups?<\/h3>\n

K. R.<\/strong> - Mauritius is the ideal playground for incentive groups, with a host of fun and friendly activities on offer in the heart of nature, in the various natural estates dotted around the island or on organised excursions. The mansions and museums steeped in history also offer an exceptional setting. Among the must-sees are the Domaine de l'Etoile and the Domaine de Bel Ombre for 'nature' activities, and the Ch\u00e2teau de Labourdonnais, the Maison Eureka and the Mus\u00e9e de l'Aventure du Sucre for a taste of Mauritian culture.<\/p>\n

Are there any new trends, any other ways of approaching the island?<\/h3>\n

K. R.<\/strong> - When people think of Mauritius, they sometimes still think of the island as a purely seaside destination. Yet Mauritius offers a wealth of unexpected outdoor activities inland. It's an ideal place for nature lovers. It also has a vibrant cultural scene, with flagship events such as the international Kreol festival and Porlwi By Light attracting large numbers of both local and international visitors.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
