From Tuesday 2 May, theHelsinki airport<\/strong> has entered a new era: Finnair<\/strong> y is trialling a new facial recognition service until 23 May. This full-scale test is being carried out in partnership with Finavia<\/strong>the Finnish airport management body, and Futurice, the supplier of the technology being tested.<\/p>\n

Facial recognition will be trialled for three weeks for the airline's passenger check-in system. A thousand frequent flyers will be used as \"guinea pigs\" to check that \" whether this technology can be adapted to the airport environment and the airline's infrastructure<\/em> \"says the press release. These loyal passengers can therefore send their photo via a test application. They will then have access to a dedicated check-in counter at the airport.<\/p>\n

This experiment is reminiscent of a similar initiative in Amsterdam. At the beginning of 2017, theSchiphol airport<\/a><\/strong> had already launched biometric boarding.
