However, unlimited Internet connection abroad is not the rule for everyone. Depending on the amount of data available in the country of origin, and on the price of the package, it's best to find out in advance about the terms and conditions of the new regulations before watching the new season of your favourite series on your smartphone... With this in mind, the European Commission has drafted a <strong>explanatory note<\/strong> The site is fairly comprehensive, answering the main questions asked by users.<\/p>\n<h3>Next step: WiFi4EU<\/h3>\n<p>That's where European leaders are already looking to the next step: free wi-fi access. On 29 May this year, they agreed to launch WiFi4EU, a project funded to the tune of 120 million euros, and which plans to<strong>6,000 to 8,000 towns to be equipped with free wi-fi<\/strong> across Europe. Their aim: to create <strong>\"Digital Union<\/strong>. The informal agreement must now be approved by the European Parliament and Council. It provides for the creation of a <strong>single sign-on system<\/strong>valid throughout the European Union, and includes guarantees aimed at <strong>protect data<\/strong> users' personal data.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>building a Digital Union that leaves no-one by the wayside<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>''<em>Wherever they live and whatever they earn, all Europeans should have the same wifi connectivity.<\/em>stresses the rapporteur <strong>Carlos Zorrinho<\/strong> for whom\u00a0<em>broadband access to wifi services, free of charge and without restrictions, is essential to building a digital Union that leaves no one by the wayside\".<\/em>. He continued: \"\u00a0<em>As a pilot project, <strong>WiFi4EU<\/strong> can pave the way for effective connectivity for EU citizens. It is important, from the outset, to ensure that this project respects a common vision. <strong>geographical balance<\/strong> between and within Member States, by creating a single authentication system valid throughout the EU and capable of promoting digital inclusion\".<\/em>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While roaming charges have been banned in Europe since 15 June,
