On the slopes of the Panier district, terraced over the Old Port, this establishment symbolises the renaissance of the northern part of the port. The crossing to the Ch\u00e2teau d'If only takes 20 minutes, but leaving Marseille by sea is something to be immortalised. With just two clicks of the mouse, you can capture the essential: the anthracite cube of the Mucem towering above the Fanal tower, the Palais du Pharo topped by the Bonne M\u00e8re. And there are the crenellated ramparts and towers of the fortress, famous since Alexandre Dumas put young Edmond Dant\u00e8s, future Count of Monte Cristo, to sleep there. The Miramar is an Old Port institution, located not far from the landing stage of the legendary \"boate ferry\".ne of the hot spots for bouillabaisse<\/strong> He is also one of the founding members of the Bouillabaisse Charter, a document drawn up in 1980 to define the ingredients of a quality dish. In short, it's a safe bet, especially as chef Christian Buffa, who trained at Bocuse, is a native of the town and comes from a family of fishmongers. The flavour of the Mediterranean herbs, the variety of flesh of the six fish used and the note of pastis at the end of the meal: a total delight. The attentive staff masterfully carve up the fish in the dining room. As for the chef, who comes to ask about customer satisfaction, he gives a course in his kitchens once a month. The inhabitants of the Panier district hardly ever dry their washing in their windows any more. The cradle of the city has been rehabilitated, spruced up and \"boboised\", and has lost the \"cheeky\" houses that gave it a Neapolitan feel, but it has retained its village charm. Once a cut-throat, the alleyways are now generously decorated with flowers<\/strong> by local residents armed with stakes and pruning shears, potted plant kingpins climbing over the shutters. Dotted with street art frescoes and designer and craft shops, the Panier has preserved a few picturesque businesses such as Les D\u00e9lices de Saint-Andr\u00e9, a bakery and cake shop specialising in navette, a local biscuit flavoured with orange blossom. The shop is still as it was and Zozo, the voluble owner, pops up on the doorstep to chat and let visitors taste her home-made products. The area invites you to stroll around: visit the Vieille Charit\u00e9, a hospice turned archaeological museum and its baroque chapel, the most beautiful in the city, have a coffee here, sip an anisette there... before slipping away to the Mucem.
