At last! It took almost two decades for the Russian capital to <strong>Catch up in the hotel sector<\/strong>. Hotel capacity has been greatly increased, and is now on a par with the beginning of the millennium. Even if the number of openings is not as frenetic as in some of the world's major cities, some fifteen five-star hotels and a plethora of establishments of all categories make up Moscow's hotel stock. This now totals almost 25,000 rooms, with the opening at the end of 2016 of a 701-key complex, the Kievskaya, subdivided into three brands of the AccorHotels group: Novotel, Adagio and Ibis. Another recent opening was the Park Inn by Radisson Izmailovo, Carlson Rezidor's eighth hotel in the Russian capital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Among the very fine establishments opened<\/strong> Over the last few years in Moscow, the sumptuous Four Seasons has stood out, installed since 2014 at the gates of Red Square. This 180-room hotel, including eight suites literally overlooking the Kremlin, not only has the advantage of being in the heart of the capital, but also of meeting all the requirements of a business clientele in search of excellence. The concierge service operates 24 hours a day, the meeting rooms are the most technologically advanced, and the spa is one of the most remarkable in Moscow, with a huge pool bathed in natural light. And despite its Canadian origins, the Four Seasons has retained a very local spirit. In the lobby, a forest of birch trees adorns the walls, evoking Russian symbolist painting of the 19th century.<sup>e<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67081\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67081\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Four-Seasons.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67081\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Four-Seasons.jpg\" alt=\"The Four Seasons\" width=\"500\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Four-Seasons.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Four-Seasons-200x300-derived.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Four Seasons, rebuilt on the site of the legendary Hotel Moskva, reproduces its exterior d\u00e9cor identically, with its fa\u00e7ade still hesitating between two styles. At the time, the architect did not dare ask Stalin for his choice when he signed the plan presenting the two proposals.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The same spirit reigns at the St Regis Nikolskaya, opened in 2013 on a charming street that has recently become pedestrianised. The Marriott-Starwood hotel is housed in a historic building dating back to 1879, but redesigned at the beginning of the 20th century.<sup>e<\/sup> century in an Art Nouveau style. A little stylistically loaded, it nonetheless quickly became <strong>a new benchmark<\/strong> in town.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from these landmark openings, which date back a few years, the current trend is less for new developments than for renovations, the most recent being that of one of the city's legends, the Hotel Metropol, which has retained its Art Nouveau style while giving its suites a very contemporary look. With the kick-off of the 2018 Football World Cup just around the corner, other prestigious venues have taken advantage of the opportunity to <strong>a new look<\/strong>These include the Baltschug Kempinski, at the far end of Red Square, which was the first major hotel of the post-Perestroika era.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015 and 2016, its lobby was completely redesigned and its floors given a makeover one by one. The views it affords of the Kremlin are so exceptional that Muscovites themselves have renamed it \"The Kremlin\". <strong>the 10 stars<\/strong>. Five for luxury, of course, and the other five for the stars of the Kremlin, which can be seen glowing across the Moskva from most of the 230 rooms. Housed in a building dating from 1898, itself erected on the remains of a sixteenth-century tavern, the hotel is the first of its kind in Europe.<sup>e<\/sup> Built in the 16th century on the orders of Ivan the Terrible, the Baltschug is an institution. The Russian welcome is characterised by <strong>opulent generosity<\/strong> and a jovial, albeit very distinguished, warmth. For example, cream blinis and caviar - salmon caviar - are served for breakfast.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67083\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67083\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Hotel-Baltschuf-Kempinsk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67083\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Hotel-Baltschuf-Kempinsk.jpg\" alt=\"Moscow-Hotel-Baltschuf-Kempinsk\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Hotel-Baltschuf-Kempinsk.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Hotel-Baltschuf-Kempinsk-300x200-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67083\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Like many hotels in Moscow, the luxurious Baltschug has undertaken a vast renovation programme.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In a completely different district, Krasnye Holmy, close to the Moscow International House of Music, the Swissotel, built in 2005, has also undergone a renovation programme to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Its lobby has been refurbished, its 234 rooms redesigned in a sober, contemporary style, and its restaurant completely updated.<\/p>\n<h2>Glass bubble and sky lounge<\/h2>\n<p>Unlike the historic hotels close to the Kremlin, this one has the advantage of offering multiple conference rooms, all very large. Plenty of space, and even <strong>an exceptional panoramic view<\/strong>City Space Bar &amp; Lounge at 34<sup>e<\/sup> and top floor, a sort of glass bubble crowning the building, 140 metres high. The Swissotel combines two warm atmospheres, that of Switzerland and that of Russia: lots of wood, leather and noble materials, and an original leitmotif expressed through the lighting, sculptures and drawings, that of the famous bulbs adorning the bell towers of the surrounding Orthodox churches and monasteries.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67085\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67085\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Swissotel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67085\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Swissotel.jpg\" alt=\"Moscow-Swissotel\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Swissotel.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Moscou-Swissotel-300x200-derived.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67085\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Inaugurated in 2005, the very business Swiss\u00f4tel Krasnye Holmy is housed in a 34-storey tower close to the business district.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another large business hotel, also located in a vast new building, the Lotte - affiliated to the South Korean brand which chose Moscow in 2010 for its first establishment outside Asia - has also undergone a major renovation. <strong>a recent facelift<\/strong> despite its relative youth. This majestic 300-room hotel, spread over 10 floors around an immense patio, has quickly established itself as one of the best hotels in Moscow. Admittedly, its design is somewhat eclectic, and even grandiloquent at times, but its lobby-bar is one of the city's most sought-after places for business meetings. Pierre Gagnaire worked for a long time upstairs in the very fine restaurant, which has recently passed into the hands of a gifted young Italian, Emmanuele Pollini.
