The International Civil Aviation Organization (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icao.int\/Pages\/FR\/default_FR.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ICAO<\/a>), the UN agency dedicated to aviation, published a summary of 2017 in figures on 17 January. ICAO seems satisfied with a very positive year for the sector, with its <strong>4.1 billion passengers<\/strong> transported. According to the same statistics, this growth of 7.1 % was led by the following lines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/low-cost-continue-a-grignoter-parts-de-marche-europe-20170210.html\/\"><strong>low-cost<\/strong><\/a> who transported <strong>30 % of passengers<\/strong> worldwide. According to the ICAO, the good results for 2017 are due to a global economic upturn. In addition, many countries have increasing purchasing power.<\/p>\n<h3>Europe dominates air traffic in terms of passenger numbers<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>1.2 billion<\/strong> Most of these companies' customers come from North America (26 %) and the Asia-Pacific region (31 %). But the <strong>majority<\/strong> of their passengers are <strong>European<\/strong> (33 %). As well as their low fares, the appeal of these routes lies in the point-to-point journeys they offer. These routes were abandoned by the main lines because they were deemed too unprofitable. The <strong>low-cost carriers<\/strong> (LCC), however, have taken them over and made these routes much more efficient. <strong>chests of drawers<\/strong> and <strong>affordable<\/strong> for many travellers.<\/p>\n<h3>Solid revenues for 2017 according to ICAO<\/h3>\n<p>Europe's first place is confirmed by the profitability statistics calculated in revenue per kilometre (RPK). Europe made <strong>37 % of the global RPK<\/strong>. The latter believed <strong>8 % in 2017<\/strong>slightly more than <strong>7.8 % from 2016<\/strong>. This overall growth in RPK shows a healthy air transport market, despite a slowdown in the Middle East and an increase in the price of oil. <strong>fuel<\/strong>. This significant increase amounts to <strong>25\u00a0%<\/strong> compared with last year.
