Our business sector is very buoyant, with consumers wanting more freedom to consume the content they like at any time, on any device.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why did you launch it in Amsterdam?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>B. G.<\/strong> - It all started with Gilles Domartini, who was working for Philips in Amsterdam with Donald Res, our Dutch partner. After several years of struggling to get things done in a large group, Gilles finally took the plunge in 2011. At the time, there was a lot of talk about creating paywalls for the press. I quickly joined them in the venture with another Frenchman, Nicolas Le Gall. Three of us were already living in Amsterdam, a very favourable environment for the creation of start-ups. Bureaucracy is reduced, procedures are simple and everything is available in English. Unlike France, here you're not afraid of the authorities. What's more, the quality of life in Amsterdam is excellent, and we can no longer live without our bikes. Not to mention that it's easy to recruit English-speaking talent. In all, there are already 40 of us, including 14 in Amsterdam, of seven different nationalities: Chinese, French, Ukrainians. That's our commercial side. But we also have a solidarity facet with the Make IT Here project, in which, in 2017, we trained 16 refugees in online marketing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did the Bijlmerbajes project begin?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>J. H.<\/strong> -- I launched Peper.Click two years ago when I was still working freelance. Last year, Nick Aldewereld joined me. He too had an office in Lola Lik, the creative space of the Bijlmerbajes project, a converted former prison. Together we came up with the idea of offering work placements to refugees. Lola Lik has given us the freedom to pursue our ideas, and we've been able to flourish because we're the only start-up offering online marketing services within its walls. For our Make IT Here project, Bijlmerbajes has been essential: we've had free classrooms for the training courses we offer. Without Bijlmerbajes and the Lola Lik association, we probably wouldn't have been able to launch our project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does the future look like for you?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>J. H.<\/strong> -- There are now four of us in the team. Over the next three years, we intend to grow this programme and raise it to a national level, with free online distance learning. By 2018, we'd like to have trained around a hundred refugees and to ensure that they all find a job when they finish their training.<\/p>\n<p>(peper.click and
