This news comes as little surprise as \"\u00a0<em>Bordeaux accounts for more than 11 % of easyJet's operations in France<\/em>\u00a0\"as the airport's chairman reminded us, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/interview-personne-aeroport-bordeaux-20170809.html\/\">Pascal Personne<\/a>. Passenger numbers to and from the Aquitaine metropolis reached <strong>10 million<\/strong> this year since the first Luton-Bordeaux flight in 2006. The wine capital now has three <strong>Airbus A320<\/strong> of easyJet. Among other things, this will increase the 400,000 seats available for this summer. This new facility is the next logical step in easyJet's strategy in the region, where the airline has increased its investment from <strong>21 % in 2017<\/strong> and opened nine new routes at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<h3>A domestic, tourist and business network<\/h3>\n<p>For Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, France is \"the most important market in Europe\".\u00a0<em>Europe's largest easyJet market after the UK<\/em>\u00a0\". Indeed, Bordeaux has become <strong>sixth French base<\/strong> out of a total of 30 in Europe. The metropolis represents a strategic hub for its domestic network in France, but also for absorbing summer tourist flows. Business travellers are also well catered for: at the end of 2017, the airline opened routes to<strong> Luxembourg<\/strong>, <strong>Tel Aviv<\/strong> and <strong>London Southend<\/strong>. \"\u00a0<em>Our investments in Bordeaux will also enable us to strengthen our offer for business travellers with domestic destinations and three business centres: Geneva, Lyon and London.<\/em>\u00a0\"added Fran\u00e7ois Bacchetta, Director of easyJet France.<\/p>\n<h3>easyJet is courting the city of wine<\/h3>\n<p>The ambitions for this base do not end with its installation at this airport: \"\u00a0<em>Traffic at the billi terminal is expected to increase by 50 % between now and 2021.<\/em>\u00a0\"said Pascal Personne. So there's no end in sight to the cooperation between the airport and easyJet. On the contrary, the creation of <strong>110 jobs<\/strong> and <strong>economic interests<\/strong> from air traffic seem to have won over the town's main elected representative: \"\u00a0<em>All the lines operating today and those to be created tomorrow will strengthen the international dimension of our city. This new phase is a strong sign of Bordeaux's economic and tourist appeal.<\/em>\u00a0\"said a delighted <strong>Alain Jupp\u00e9<\/strong>easyJet has honoured its host city with a number of awards. <strong>new deliveries<\/strong> with <strong>bunch of grapes<\/strong>the symbol of the world's wine capital.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The carrier easyJet has opened a new base in Bordeaux.
