Next, the airline will study the regulations and commercial arrangements. Then it will examine the support of airports and institutional authorities for such a route and the resources needed to establish the new route. Finally, regulatory approvals and aircraft slots will be examined. Once approved, the flights will then be marketed.<\/p>\n<h3>How long does it take until final approval?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MR S.<\/strong> - It generally takes between six months and two years to establish a new route. International routes take longer because of the regulatory, operational and commercial arrangements required. The timetable for opening depends on the destination country and existing inter-country agreements. Another key factor in approving a route is the availability of airport slots, which can be limited at congested airports such as Sydney or London.<\/p>\n<h3>What were the most important criteria for the London-Perth route?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MR S.<\/strong> - Aircraft technology for this route was a key consideration. The integration of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into our fleet has made this launch possible by providing a direct link between the UK and Australia for the first time.<\/p>\n<h3>How do new aircraft help assess the potential of a new line?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MR S.<\/strong> - Qantas has always been a pioneer in the use of aviation technology to serve our network. Historically, aircraft such as the B747-400ER have enabled us to fly passengers from Los Angeles to Melbourne non-stop, as the Dreamliner does today on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/qantas-perth-londres-20180326.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">London-Perth<\/a>. We have also launched a challenge to manufacturers Airbus and Boeing, better known as \"Project Sunrise\", to produce an aircraft capable of flying non-stop from the east coast of Australia to New York or London...<\/p>\n<h3>Is prestige still taken into account when opening a line?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MR S.<\/strong> - Above all, airlines are looking for itinerary opportunities based on customers' wishes.
