The mayor was in fact able to wax lyrical about his city's attractiveness to property investors. According to the town hall, 65% of investment in this sector already comes from abroad, and the trend is upwards...<\/p>\n<p>Germany's seventh largest city with <strong>Population: 615,000<\/strong> is at the heart of Europe's largest conurbation, the Rhine\/Ruhr region with its <strong>11 million inhabitants<\/strong>. It is also the regional capital of Germany's most populous state, North Rhine-Westphalia, with 18 million inhabitants. Over the past half-century, D\u00fcsseldorf has established itself as the <strong>Germany's capital of advertising, fashion, consultancy firms and the art market<\/strong>. It is also one of the main Japanese bridgeheads in Europe. And more recently, it has also become a city of telecoms technologies, as evidenced by the presence of the UK's Vodafone and China's Huawei Technologies.<\/p>\n<p>These assets explain the city's privileged position as one of Europe's leading trade fair and conference centres. With 31 trade fairs in 2016 (latest figures available), its <strong>3,700 conferences and events<\/strong> attracted 1.6 million visitors. The number of overnight stays in D\u00fcsseldorf reached 4.8 million last year, just behind Cologne with 6.24 million. French travellers to D\u00fcsseldorf reached 77,000 overnight stays last year, making France the fourth most important market for the Rhine capital.<\/p>\n<p>In ten years, the number of overnight stays has doubled. Between January and June, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia recorded 1.96 million overnight stays, narrowing the gap with Cologne (2.17 million overnight stays). The hotel occupancy rate reached 70% last year, a historic performance for the city.<\/p>\n<h2>The originality card for new hotels<\/h2>\n<p>The tourism boom has led to growing interest from investors in the hotel sector. From here <strong>2022<\/strong>The total number of beds will increase by 38%, i.e. an additional 10,000 units across 25 hotel projects. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/25hours-mixe-french-allemande-dusseldorf-20180607.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>25hours Hotel Das Tour<\/strong> <\/a>in the heart of <strong>new urban development project<\/strong> in D\u00fcsseldorf, the <strong>Central district<\/strong>. Housed in a former goods depot, the hotel offers <strong>198 rooms<\/strong>\u00a0with a French theme evoking the Hexagonean lifestyle. The hotel's restaurant, Le Club de Paris, offers a nod to France with its French cuisine and wine list, while the spa on the 14th floor is inspired by the world of sport and cycling, by <strong>tribute to the Tour de France<\/strong>. It should eventually be joined by a new establishment <strong>Holiday Inn<\/strong> 324 rooms, including large meeting rooms.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the most original projects include <strong>Carlofthotel<\/strong>The new hotel will feature 178 rooms and 34 suites, as well as direct access by car to the upper floors for 26 'CarSuites'. The hotel will open in late summer 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects include the renovation of a former bank, one of the first skyscrapers, which will become a luxury hotel, but whose name has not yet been announced. Another establishment, the <strong>Prizeotel<\/strong> is due to open in <strong>2020<\/strong> with 220 rooms on the project <strong>\"Grand Central<\/strong>. Finally, on the left bank of the Rhine, the German group <strong>Lindner<\/strong> provides for the construction of a <strong>\"Me and All<\/strong>a four-star hotel with 250 rooms. The architects of <strong>new Medienhafen business district<\/strong> plan to build two bridges intersected by an island on stilts, where a luxury hotel is likely to be built.<\/p>\n<h2>The airport, future hub for low-cost traffic<\/h2>\n<p>Finally, the<strong>D\u00fcsseldorf airport<\/strong> continues to grow in importance. Nearly <strong>25 million passengers<\/strong> are welcomed each year at the hub, which includes a regional and TGV station. The station offers connections to a dozen intercontinental cities, but the decision at the start of the year by<strong>Eurowings<\/strong>Lufthansa's point-to-point subsidiary, to transfer all its long-haul routes from Cologne to D\u00fcsseldorf, will make it possible to integrate a new generation of airlines. <strong>major new hub in D\u00fcsseldorf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although Eurowings offers a \"low-cost\" product, its redeployment to D\u00fcsseldorf will enable it to position itself on a \"high-cost\" market. <strong>business segment<\/strong>. As proof of this, the airline is launching a new business class at the end of October, the date of its transfer to Germany's third largest airport. Moreover, over 10% of passengers at D\u00fcsseldorf are in transit, even though the airport is not considered a hub in the strictest sense.<\/p>\n<p>The integration of Eurowings' long-haul flights with its extensive European network should inevitably result in an increase in connecting traffic, a segment which Eurowings is already taking into account on its booking site. Even though Lufthansa's management in France believes that the arrival of long-haul flights at the hub will primarily serve the population of the Land, so as not to overshadow the major Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.
