High standards for Jakarta's Terminal 3<\/h3>\n

For years, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta airport, one of the largest hubs in South-East Asia with 65 million passengers<\/strong>had to move all its traffic through two terminals, with a combined capacity of 25 million passengers. Until the opening of its new new terminal 3<\/strong> during the summer of 2017, completed last spring with the integration of the former terminal 3.<\/p>\n

With a capacity of 28 million passengers<\/strong>The terminal first became the new base for the Indonesian national airline Garuda<\/strong> and its alliance partners SkyTeam<\/strong>China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, KLM, Korean Air, Saudia and Vietnam Airlines. These carriers were joined in spring 2018 by all the international airlines.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The new terminal 3 offers a level of services and facilities that meet the highest international standards. SkyTeam Premium passengers, for example, benefit from an exclusive check-in area, while Business and First Class passengers enjoy Garuda lounges. For all passengers, the platform also offers the WiFi<\/strong> free shared workspaces with PCs and printers, plus a wide choice of shops and restaurants. The terminal can handle 28 aircraft simultaneously, including 18 in the domestic zone.<\/p>\n

PUBLIC TRANSPORT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jakarta railway line in operation<\/h3>\n

The first direct rail link between Jakarta and the airport was inaugurated last spring. Although it is not yet fully operational, with only two trains per hour and a journey time of 45 minutes to the centre, it already offers an alternative to the capital's overcrowded motorways, with trains stopping in the heart of the business district.\"Railway-airport-jakarta<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A capsule hotel for 30 euros a night<\/h3>\n

An early morning flight from terminal 3? Since last year, the airport has had Indonesia's first capsule hotel, in a structure that looks like a spaceship. The Digital Capsule Hotel is located in the domestic zone and offers 120 capsules with WiFi, computer charging sockets, televisions and shower areas. Airport projects multiply in Indonesia<\/h3>\n

There's a lot of talk about China and its new airports springing up like mushrooms. In Indonesia, it's a bit the same. In 2015, the new Medan airport in Kuala Namu was inaugurated, the first in the country to be linked to its urban area by train. This year, it was the turn of Kertajati airport, between Jakarta, Bandung and Cirebon, which should become an alternative to the Jakarta hub once a high-speed rail line is opened.<\/p>\n

By the end of next year, or early 2020, another major hub is due to open at Kulon Progo, near Yogyakarta, the largest city in Central Java. Like many other air hubs in Indonesia, Yogyakarta's current airport is seeing its traffic explode, having grown from 2.5 to 8 million passengers in the space of a decade. The new airport will be able to handle 12 million more, and will also be served by rail shuttles from the city.<\/p>\n
