That's what the Belgian media have been saying since 3 January, based on a decision by the Brussels Commercial Court dating back to last December.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>no immediate impact on our business<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For their part, Uber officials insist that this is a case of confusion between the service <strong>UberX<\/strong> \"classic\", and the most controversial <strong>UberPOP<\/strong>which is not driven by a professional but by a private individual... and which quickly disappeared from the scene, both in Belgium and in France. \" <em>We are disappointed that the judge's clarification is not more precise between the <strong>fundamental difference between uberX and uberPOP<\/strong>a service that we have <strong>suspended in 2015<\/strong><\/em> \"An Uber spokesperson lamented. \" <em>However, this did not <strong>no immediate impact on our business<\/strong> and the passengers and drivers who use our service. The judge handed down a <strong>informative and non-determinative decision<\/strong> which will still have to be considered by another court<\/em> \".<\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>For the <strong>Belgian taxi union G.T.L.<\/strong>, \"\u00a0<em>The Brussels Enterprise Tribunal's decision on Uber's activities is clear <\/em>\"even if he is waiting for\u00a0<em>decisive action by the authorities to finally put an end to these unfair commercial practices\u00a0<\/em>\". \" <em>Uber's activities in the capital are not only unfair, but now also illegal<\/em> \"says Pierre Steenberghen, General Secretary of the Groupement national des entreprises de Taxis.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Belgian media, a court ruling in December 2018 rendered the Uber platform illegal in Brussels.
