According to R\u00e9gis Lacote<\/strong>Director of theOrly<\/strong>the transformation of Orly Sud and Orly Ouest into Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4, effective from 19 March<\/strong>in fact corresponds to the creation of a single entity<\/strong> whose epicentre is new \"Orly 3\" connecting terminal<\/strong>This is the first time that a physical link has been created between the former South and West terminals. \" We post very strong ambitions<\/strong> to win back<\/strong> for Orly since 2012\/2013, when we presented our investment plan. It is considerable and unique in Orly's history, reaching 900 million euros<\/strong>. In fact, since 2018, Orly has reclaimed the heart of the business traveller<\/strong>in particular with the return of long-haul routes<\/strong> to the world's major economic centres, helping to boost the economic appeal of the southern Ile-de-France region by creating a truly dynamic hub for businesses. Today, Orly is linked to New York, Sao Paulo, Beijing, Africa and the Middle East, in addition to a dense network of European routes. Growth is here, with traffic of 33.1 million passengers<\/strong>3.4% higher than in 2017. \" We forecast average passenger growth of 2% to 2025<\/em> \"says R\u00e9gis Lacote. This should result in total traffic of 38 to 39 million passengers by that date. Orly's dynamism brings a certain balance to passenger flows. According to A\u00e9roports de Paris, domestic routes account for one third of passenger traffic, with Europe and international routes generating the other two thirds. 40% of traffic is handled by low-cost airlines.<\/p>\n

Upgrading Orly<\/h3>\n

The investments made in this single terminal will ensure that passengers have a smooth and comfortable experience, while also offering airlines a better distribution throughout the terminal. The new Orly 3 connecting terminal provides a additional capacity of 3.5 million passengers<\/strong> 80,000 m\u00b2, and should be able to handle some 9 million passengers a year with the transfer of companies. It will officially open its doors on 15 April. Two other major projects will further enhance the airport infrastructure. In 2021, another Connector Terminal will open in the former South Terminal, providing additional handling capacity for two million passengers on a 50,000 m\u00b2 site. \" This project will also make passenger flows more fluid, offering even greater comfort.<\/em>\u00a0\"adds Regis Lacoste. This will be followed in 2022\/2024 by the new station for the Greater Paris<\/strong>built as an extension to Orly 2 and 3. The multi-storey car park will open in 2022, and trains from metro line 14 and the future metro line 18 will connect there. \" We are looking into the possibility of using station areas for check-in desks.<\/em>\u00a0\"says the Orly Director.<\/p>\n

All these changes should benefit passengers. The former Orly West terminal is now called Orly 1 and Orly 2. Orly 1 mainly handles Air France and Air France Hop<\/a> as well as Air Malta, Alitalia, Iberia and TAP Portugal; Orly 2 is used by easyJet and Air Europa; Orly 3 brings together Air France to the French overseas departments, Air Corsica, Level, Pegasus and Transavia, while Orly 4 - formerly Orly Sud - handles all the other airlines, including national carriers to the Maghreb andAigle Azur<\/a>Air Cara\u00efbes, French Bee, La Compagnie, Flybe and Corsair. More good news for business travellers: the opening of new exhibitions<\/strong> including one large lounge for Air France at Orly 3<\/strong> as well as in the future connecting building at Orly 4. In the meantime, passengers can now walk seamlessly from one end of the terminal to the other, in both public and duty-free areas.
