But the Central Bank of India, which had to temporarily take over the company's capital, was still unable to find one or more buyers last week.<\/p>\n<p>The French government has just announced that it is postponing the deadline for finding a buyer. However, a dramatic turn of events at the end of last week could change the situation. According to the Indian daily The Economic Times, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways - which still owns 24% of the airline's shares - is now ready to increase its stake and take 49% of the capital. However, the carrier has not yet officially confirmed...<\/p>\n<p>This does not rule out bankruptcy, a solution that would allow an investor to bid to take over the carrier and restructure it, without the sword of Damocles represented by the debts owed to the banks. This solution seems to be increasingly favoured by government circles.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the absence of buyers and, above all, the inability of the banks to temporarily inject funds into Jet Airways to ensure its survival - contrary to the promises made last week - has resulted in an increasingly difficult situation for the company.<\/p>\n<p>The latter is unable to cope with its <strong>receivables from leasing companies, airports or paraffin suppliers<\/strong>. On Tuesday, the <strong>drivers<\/strong> have officially lodged an appeal against Jet Airways because they have not been paid for several months. An ultimatum had been given to the company to settle the salary arrears...<\/p>\n<p>The collapse of Jet Airways has led to a dramatic reduction in its network, frequencies and service. It no longer offers meals on domestic routes and has even been forced to stop operating the in-flight distraction system on its aircraft ...<\/p>\n<p>Jet Airways operates fewer than ten aircraft compared with 120 at the same time last year, with aircraft lessors gradually taking back their aircraft. At its main hub in Mumbai, the carrier offered around 32 flights during the week and just ten or so this week. As a result, it has had to <strong>close all its international routes<\/strong>This decision, which the company describes as <strong>temporary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Departing from <strong>Paris CDG<\/strong>The airline finally stopped operating its Mumbai route on Friday, after suspending its Chennai service a few days earlier. The company said it would not accept <strong>no bookings until early June<\/strong>. <strong>Flights have also been suspended from London and Amsterdam.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This situation is benefiting other airlines. On domestic routes, for example, AirAsia India and Vistara will be opening flights until the end of the year. <strong>eleven additional lines<\/strong> on the home network.<\/p>\n<p>As for Jet Airways, if it survives this crisis and finally finds buyers, it will have to review its model and drastically reduce its network to improve efficiency. Above all, it will have to regain the confidence of its passengers, several thousand of whom were \"caught out\" at the last minute as it closed its
