What's new for Qatar Airways in the French market?<\/h3>\n

Sylvain Bosc -<\/strong>\u00a0This year has been a busy one for the company in France, with the launch of the launch of the A350-900 in Nice on 31 March<\/strong> This ultra-modern aircraft is the first of its type to serve Nice airport. In addition, 31 August will mark the arrival of the A350-1000 at Paris CDG for the first time. 2019 will also be marked by participation in the Paris Air Show, from 17 to 23 June 2019, and by the opening of seven new destinations beyond Doha, and the introduction of a new, more generous product Economy Class<\/strong><\/a>. At the same time, we are concentrating our efforts on raising awareness of our Business Class, the best on the market, which offers a unique experience thanks to the private Qsuite and its new gastronomic offer on board, \"Quisine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How would you sum up 2018?<\/h3>\n

S. B. -<\/strong> 2018 was a very good year for Qatar Airways, with one of the strongest growth rates in the sector worldwide. From France we have maintained our market share<\/strong> in general, and we have made progress in the business travel segment<\/strong>. Nevertheless, Qatar Airways has never rested on its laurels. We are constantly listening to our customers and adapting our development strategy to meet their demands. One of the best examples of this is the forthcoming opening of new destinations announced by His Excellency Mr Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Airways Group at theITB Berlin<\/strong> on 6 March.<\/p>\n

Lyon is not in our immediate plans, but that in no way bodes well for the future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How would you assess the return to Nice airport, and are you preparing for an arrival in Lyon?<\/h3>\n

S. B. -<\/strong> Our operations in Nice<\/strong> are very satisfactory, and we're facing growing demand. That's why we decided to deploy theA350-900<\/strong> which offers more seats, thus increasing our capacity. capacity<\/strong>particularly in Business Class<\/strong>. We are the first to operate this latest-generation aircraft at Nice airport. Lyon<\/strong> is not part of our immediate plans<\/strong> but that in no way bodes well for the future. As you know, we have been a major player in the aviation industry for many years, with a strong commitment to the French market, and we are always on the lookout for any changes in demand. As soon as we are able to offer a service that matches demand, in terms of frequency and number of seats, we will be delighted to add this destination to our network, which already includes more than 160 around the world<\/strong>This means more travel opportunities and better connections for our passengers.<\/p>\n

What will the arrival of an Airbus A350-1000 in Paris change, particularly for French business travellers?<\/h3>\n

Sylvain Bosc - Paris<\/strong> with New York<\/a> and London, among the three main destinations on the Qatar Airways network<\/strong>. That's why our new products are usually launched on routes from CDG and JFK or Heathrow. The deployment of this new aircraft, launched by Qatar Airways, will offer French business passengers a new travel experience, with advanced ventilation technology that renews the air every two to three minutes to reduce fatigue. The absence of draughts in the ventilation reduces the level of ambient noise in the cabin, and LED lighting, with 16.7 million colours simulating natural light, helps to reduce the effects of jet lag. In addition the quietest cabin on any wide-body aircraft<\/strong>with a global and systematic broadband connection on board, and a high-bandwidth optical fibre that allows passengers to enjoy high-definition videos.<\/p>\n

How does the new Beyond Business offer differ from other loyalty programmes on the market?<\/h3>\n

S. B. -<\/strong> This programme enables business travellers to accumulate Qrewards<\/strong> and enjoy exclusive benefits. Unlike other frequent flyer programmes, where rewards are only applied to a selection of flights, Beyond Business by Qatar Airways allows customers to SMES<\/strong> accumulate and redeem Qrewards for flight tickets valid throughout the airline's network of more than 160 destinations. Through three levels of rewards, SMEs will be able to benefit more quickly from freebies and advantages, including easier access to Qatar Airways Privilege Club Gold status and to access to airport lounges<\/strong>. Companies also have access to a new online portal from which they can book and redeem their Qrewards, as well as benefiting from relevant reporting to help them monitor and manage their travel budgets.<\/p>\n

We plan to start upgrading our A380 fleet in 2020<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How is the QSuite product perceived in the French corporate market, and will it soon be arriving on the A380 serving Paris?<\/h3>\n

Sylvain Bosc -<\/strong> Qatar Airways announced the launch of the Qsuite at ITB Berlin 2017. This patented product has been widely acclaimed, including being recognised as \"World's Best Business Class\" and \"Best Business Class Seat\" by Skytrax. The feedback has been unanimously positive, including in the French market. As far as the A380 is concerned, we will gradually modernise the Business Class and introduce the Qsuite product, in response to customer demand. We are currently planning to start upgrading our A380 fleet in 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To what extent is this \"hybrid\" class, between Business and First, a way of complying with travel policies that prohibit First Class?<\/h3>\n

S. B. -<\/strong> Qatar Airways' primary ambition has always been to provide the best service to its passengers, which is why we launched the Qsuite which offers a true First Class experience in Business Class. With our Business Class experience matching the First Class service of our competitors, I wouldn't call it 'hybrid' but complete!<\/p>\n

Will Qatar Airways still be a member of the oneworld alliance at the end of 2019?<\/h3>\n

Sylvain Bosc -<\/strong> With regard to oneworld<\/strong>Our CEO, Akbar Al Baker, has always emphasised the important role Qatar Airways plays within the alliance in meeting the needs of the travelling public. He has also publicly stressed that if Qatar Airways had no commercial and financial interest in it she would leave this alliance<\/a><\/strong>. But I'm not going to speculate on anything in that regard.<\/p>\n

The airline has opened more than 24 new destinations since the beginning of the blockade<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To what extent are regional tensions with Qatar's neighbours affecting the French market?<\/h3>\n

Sylvain Bosc -<\/strong> Although we are a major player in the air transport industry, we are not a political player<\/strong> and therefore we will not comment on this situation. We will simply point out that, as His Excellency Mr. Al Baker pointed out, we are not the only ones to be concerned, 2018 has been a turbulent and challenging year<\/strong> for our operations, which inevitably had an impact on our financial results. Nevertheless, thanks to our stable business strategy, swift action, passenger-focused solutions and the dedication of our staff, the impact was fortunately minimised<\/strong>. The company has opened more than 24 new destinations since the start of the blockade<\/strong>Qatar Airways is now one of the world's leading airlines, further expanding its network to 160 destinations worldwide and pursuing its growth plans in Europe and Asia. Barely six weeks after the start of the blockade, Qatar Airways demonstrated its strength and leadership by winning the Skytrax Airline of the Year award for the fourth time in less than 10 years. Throughout this eventful year, Qatar Airways has pursued its strategy of growth and development to offer its loyal passengers the best possible experience on every journey. Naturally, this applies to the French market.<\/p>\n

Statements by the airline's CEO seem to indicate that Qatar Airways has ambitions in the hotel sector. Could we one day see a Qatar Airways hotel in Paris, in the more or less long term?<\/h3>\n

S. B. -<\/strong> Dhiafatina for Hotels, also known as Dhiafatina, named after the Arabic word for \"our hospitality\", is a subsidiary of the Qatar Airways Group. The company manages the group's expansion into hotel activities, including the management of hotels, spas and other services. It was established in 2010 and has a growing portfolio of carefully selected hotels to complement Qatar Airways' growth strategy. Dhiafatina's vision is to own - and in some cases also operate - world-class 4 and 5 star hotels<\/strong> in strategic markets for the airline. The first property to join Dhiafatina was the Oryx Rotana in Doha, which has been owned by Qatar Airways since 2010 and is operated by Rotana Hotels. The Airport Hotel at Hamad International Airport (HIA), which opened in 2014, is also operated by Dhiafatina. Dhiafatina also acquired the Sheraton Skyline at London Heathrow Airport in October 2014, the Novotel Edinburgh Park in Scotland in April 2015 and the Sheraton Melbourne in February 2018. We cannot share any information at this stage about a possible acquisition but We are of course keeping a close eye on the Paris market, which is of strategic importance to our Group.<\/strong>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
