At one time, there were 26 categories and no fewer than 104 sub-categories requiring a specific visa. The government has decided to simplify these rules in order to attract more visitors. It has just announced that it has again reduced the number of categories and sub-categories governing the allocation of visas. We are still talking about <strong>21 categories<\/strong> and 65 sub-categories, but this is definitely substantial progress!<\/p>\n<p>Certain categories have been grouped together. For the <strong>businessmen<\/strong>This applies in particular to visas for activities such as <strong>MICE<\/strong>including conferences and congresses. Until now, these were subject to special regulations. They are now <strong>included in the electronic or traditional tourist visa<\/strong>. Visitors entering India on a tourist visa will therefore be entitled to attend conferences and congresses. Another simplification: the introduction of a single medical visa removes the need for a separate accompanying medical visa, which was previously compulsory.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Indian Ministry of Tourism, the new visa rules or changes to visas will stimulate MICE activity and will also help to promote the Indian tourism industry. <strong>medical tourism<\/strong> in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Last March, the validity of the e-Tourist Visa and e-Business Visa was extended from six months to one year, allowing multiple entries within the visa period. The length of stay was also increased to 90 days for the e-Tourist Visa and 180 days for the e-Business Visa. e-Visa holders are allowed to enter India with a passport other than the one provided at the time of the online application and approved on the e-Visa. On arrival in India, the old and new passports must be presented to the authorities.
