{"id":90767,"date":"2019-11-15T16:39:42","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T15:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=90767"},"modified":"2020-12-11T10:40:22","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T09:40:22","slug":"eurostar-greener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/eurostar-greener","title":{"rendered":"Eurostar wants to drive greener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was the presence of an orchestra on the platforms of the station at <strong>Saint Pancras International<\/strong> and the revival of the uniforms of the period, that<strong>Eurostar<\/strong> celebrated its <strong>25th anniversary<\/strong>on a special train between <strong>London<\/strong> and <strong>Paris<\/strong>. Above all, a forest was temporarily installed at the entrance to London station to symbolise the <strong>new environmental commitments<\/strong> of the railway company, which now operates some <strong>50 trains a day<\/strong> between France, England, Belgium and the Netherlands. Eurostar will be planting <strong>a tree for each train<\/strong> running daily between its three capitals from <strong>1st January 2020<\/strong>Some 20,000 trees have been planted in these 4 countries. To achieve this, partnerships have been set up with three associations: Woodland Trust, Reforest' Action and Trees for All.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_90773\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90773\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90773\" src=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes.jpg\" alt=\"Eurostar\" width=\"700\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes-300x207-derived.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes-100x70-derived.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/eurostar-uniformes-218x150-derived.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-90773\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">To mark its 25th anniversary, Eurostar has brought out its original uniforms.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This special train between London and Paris was also an opportunity to test a <strong>plastic-free travel<\/strong> whereas the railway company usually uses around sixty plastic items on its services (cups, spoons, water or fruit juice bottles, various containers, straws, etc.). \"\u00a0<em>We consume more than 500,000 plastic bottles a year<\/em>\" Eurostar's CEO pointed out in his welcome speech. \"\u00a0<em>It's a challenge for Eurostar. It is a <strong>test trip<\/strong> which allows us to look at what we can change and improve in order to propose <strong>an increasingly eco-responsible trip<\/strong><\/em>\" Marc Noaro, the rail operator's Director of Customer Experience, told Voyages d'Affaires.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>2007<\/strong> and its programme <strong>Green Travel<\/strong>Eurostar is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 40% over this period. The company considers that it will emit \"\u00a0<em>90% less greenhouse gases than the equivalent of a short-haul flight<\/em>\u00a0\"on the same axes and\u00a0<em>fewer carbon emissions per passenger than a car journey between central London and Heathrow airport<\/em>\" . \"\u00a0<em>Through our environmental ambitions and our tree-planting programme, we are offering an even more attractive and
