Rail operators are preparing their weapons for theopening up the railways to competition<\/strong>. At Spain<\/strong>, Renfe<\/strong> will be adding a new new low-cost brand<\/strong>. Avlo<\/strong>which is its name, was presented on 11 December<\/strong>. It will come into service on 6 April 2020<\/strong> on the axis Madrid<\/a>-Zaragoza-Barcelona<\/strong>The aim is to attract mainly young, family-oriented customers. With Avlo, Renfe will in particular be offering a capacity<\/strong> per train revised upwards (+20%), at a rate of 438 seats per train<\/strong>and even 581 seats<\/strong> once the new 106 series trains have been integrated. \"\u00a0This type of service is strategic for the company in the context of the liberalisation of passenger rail transport, which will come into force in December 2020, and will be Renfe's first step into \"low cost\" high-speed services.<\/em>\u00a0\"says Renfe's management. From the end of next year, the Spanish group will have to deal with foreign competition, in particular from SNCF<\/strong> which was awarded the contract to operate lines on the Spanish network at the end of November. The French operator plans to export its low-cost model to Spain, Ouigo<\/strong>Renfe had no choice but to take the low-cost train route.<\/p>\n\n\n
