{"id":93493,"date":"2020-02-25T10:05:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T09:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=93493"},"modified":"2020-05-05T15:10:09","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T13:10:09","slug":"air-rail-coronavirus-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/air-rail-coronavirus-covid-19","title":{"rendered":"Air and rail: an update on the impact of the Covid-19 coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>EUROPE<\/h3>\n<p>Visit <strong>Italy<\/strong>on the morning of <strong>25 February<\/strong>the airports of <strong>Milan<\/strong> Linate, Milan Malpensa, <strong>Bergamo<\/strong> as well as <strong>Venice<\/strong> remained <strong>open to air traffic<\/strong>despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/coronavirus-italie-20200224.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">peak number of cases<\/a> <strong>Covid-19<\/strong> detected last weekend. Since the end of January, security measures have been put in place at Italy's main airports, including a ban on flights to China since 30 January. <strong>Hong Kong<\/strong> and <strong>Taiwan<\/strong>. Since 5 February, the <strong>temperature control<\/strong> is extended to all passengers on European and international flights arriving at Italian airports. The airports of Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, Turin, Genoa and Venice also indicate that they operate all scheduled flights according to the usual timetable.<\/p>\n<p>The situation <strong>rail<\/strong> between Italy, Austria and Germany is more complex. Austria has announced that it is blocking any rail convoy on which it suspects passengers may be carrying the coronavirus. The country had already stopped two convoys at the Brenner Pass border last Sunday. Austria reserves the right to make further arbitrary stops to trains.<\/p>\n<h3>ASIA<\/h3>\n<p>After the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/cieux-ferment-chine-20200205.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suspension of overhead lines with <strong>China<\/strong><\/a> - including a sharp reduction in flights to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the number of flights to Korea, Thailand and Singapore has fallen sharply, as these three countries have the highest number of cases of people affected by the Covid-19 coronavirus outside China on the Asian continent. A Korean Air cabin crew member even tested positive.<\/p>\n<p>The flight reductions in Korea only affect routes to Asia, while on departure from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/singapour-hub-intelligent-20170927.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Singapore<\/a> and Bangkok, some frequencies have been withdrawn on several routes. All destinations served by <strong>Singapore Airlines<\/strong> and <strong>Thai Airways<\/strong> International continue to be programmed even at reduced frequencies.<\/p>\n<h3>MIDDLE EAST<\/h3>\n<p>The situation has changed dramatically in the last 72 hours with the announcement of cases of sick people detected at <strong>Bahrain<\/strong> and <strong>Oman<\/strong>. A significant number of cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus in <strong>Iran<\/strong> led to the suspension of many airlines to this country. <strong>Turkish Airlines<\/strong> - one of the most active airlines to Iran - is currently only flying to Tehran, after suspending its services to secondary cities such as Isfahan, Mashhad and Shiraz. However, the airline is not accepting new bookings to Tehran until 11 March. The airlines Flydubai, Omanair and Pegasus have reduced their frequencies to a minimum, in most cases retaining only one or two flights a day to Teheran.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kuwait Airways<\/strong> has suspended all its services to Iran, as did Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates at midday on Tuesday. The airline has also stopped services to Italy, Korea and Thailand. All passengers not suffering from any symptoms and travelling with Qatar Airways from Iran and South Korea are asked to remain confined to their homes or to be quarantined for 14 days.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Coronavirus epidemic is spreading, affecting more and more countries and affecting transport.
