{"id":96105,"date":"2020-04-14T15:44:49","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T13:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/?p=96105"},"modified":"2020-05-05T14:24:38","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T12:24:38","slug":"gbta-business-travel-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/gbta-business-travel-study","title":{"rendered":"At a standstill, Business Travel players wait and see"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On reading the survey recently published by the <strong>GBTA<\/strong>98% of the companies surveyed had interrupted their international travel, and 92% domestically.<br \/>\nOf course, this freeze in business travel is not without consequences for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/agences-de-voyages-challenges-opportunites-20170413.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">business travel agencies<\/a> and all suppliers to the market. Two-thirds of these employees have already been affected, with 69% of suppliers having had to make redundancies, according to the GBTA. Conversely, the <strong>videoconferencing<\/strong> are surfing on unprecedented demand, as confirmed by the figures published by the GBTA. The vast majority of the companies surveyed use the <strong>virtual meetings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #a71f31;\">READ ALSO: \"\u00a0<a style=\"color: #a71f31;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/visioconferences-salle-comble-20200326.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Videoconferencing sells out<\/a>\"\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>It now remains to be seen how soon business travel could return to the levels seen at the end of 2019, if such a return to normal is even conceivable. As far as companies are concerned, the time has come for a return to normal.<strong>uncertainty<\/strong> despite some optimism. Indeed, a majority of those surveyed expect a recovery by <strong>two months<\/strong> (32%) or <strong>three months<\/strong> (19%). However, 28% of the professionals questioned do not see such a rebound for another year, with 16% admitting that they have no visibility.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>travellers eager to get back on the road<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We will also have to convince the people primarily affected - business travellers - that their <strong>security<\/strong> is guaranteed before they flock again to airports and stations. This is also the reasoning behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/etihad-technologie-depistage-20200407.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the initiative unveiled by <strong>Etihad<\/strong><\/a>which will automate <strong>screenings<\/strong> on its<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voyages-d-affaires.com\/en\/abu-dhabi-haute-culture-sable-20191007.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Abu Dhabi<\/strong><\/a>. This is because 13% of companies already fear that some passengers, or even most of them (2%), are reluctant to return to their journeys. However, this reluctance is now in the minority, as underlined by <strong>Scott Solombrino<\/strong>General and Executive Director of the GBTA. \"<em>The survey shows that <strong>travellers eager to get back on the road<\/strong>This is a positive sign for future business travel. Once this pandemic has been successfully tackled, business travel can once again become a positive economic driver for the global
