Accor, Hilton and Marriott as well as B&B Hotels had already announced a number of health initiatives to prepare for the recovery. in the best possible conditions<\/strong> who by working a label for its establishments<\/a>which, in enacting a global programme<\/a> and, finally, by launching a world cleanliness council<\/a>. Other groups are now being added to this list to guarantee the safety of customers and employees alike.<\/p>\n

In this context, Melia Hotels International<\/a> has signed an international agreement with Bureau Veritas - also a partner of Accor - with a view to obtaining \"Global Safe Site\" certification for these establishments. This certification is based on the \"Stay Safe by Meli\u00e1\" programme of preventive health and safety measures implemented in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. \" With the Stay Safe by Meli\u00e1 programme, we are drawing on all the expertise and experience we have acquired in recent months in our hotels in China.<\/em> \"commented Gabriel Escarrer, the Group's Managing Director.<\/p>\n

Another Spanish group, the NH Hotel group<\/a> has joined forces with SGS, the world leader in inspection, testing and certification<\/strong>to develop a protocol of measurements and assessments focused on health safety. Routine cleaning procedures and hygiene and prevention initiatives have been readapted so that the hotels are ready to receive their certification as soon as they reopen. In addition, as a preventive measure daily medical checks<\/strong> will be carried out with employees when they arrive at the hotels.<\/p>\n

The first establishments to benefit from these new standards will be the NH Collection Barbizon Palace in Amsterdam and NH National in Madrid. The certification should enable customers to find out before they travel which hotels have been assessed by SGS. \"\u00a0SGS's experience will enable us to take maximum precautions<\/strong> and apply reliable procedures to provide travellers with the necessary security in all our hotels and destinations<\/em> \"said Ramon Aragones, CEO of NH Hotel Group. Customer check-in, new buffet concept: to ensure social distance, the customer experience will also be rethought.<\/p>\n

\"\u00a0We need to critically examine and reimagining the experience of each hotel<\/strong> in all its aspects, from our rooms and lobbies to our spas and restaurants, incorporating the latest research, technologies and innovations.<\/em> \"said Mark Hoplamazian, President and CEO of Hyatt. The American group has announced that all its hotels worldwide are in the process of being certified by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC). At the same time, Hyatt has committed to obtaining GBAC STARTM accreditation, issued by a division of the global cleaning industry association, which will include specific training in more than 900 Hyatt hotels worldwide.<\/p>\n

From September 2020, each of these establishments will have at least one member of staff trained to become hygiene manager<\/strong> and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with new operational standards such as increasing the frequency of cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants and security protocols<\/strong> improved food hygiene standards for restaurants and room service, as well as for meetings. Masks and protective equipment for employees and social distancing are also on the agenda.<\/p>\n

In France, the Balladins group<\/a> has published a \" guide to good health practice<\/strong> \"The guide, which has been distributed to the entire network, lists the measures to be implemented in establishments, such as compliance with barrier procedures via dedicated signage, the posting of rules for greater visibility, and the protection required, such as gloves and masks or hydro-alcoholic gel. The guide is designed to be open-ended and participative, with every hotelier welcome to contribute.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Best Western network<\/a> launched a charter called \"We're committed\".<\/strong>in association with Apave, a specialist in prevention, technical, human and environmental risk management and vocational training. \" We have strengthened and redesigned a number of internal processes and reviewed the entire customer journey in the hotel. 10 new procedures have been introduced<\/em> \"said Olivier Cohn, Managing Director of the Group in France. This approach and the associated processes have been validated by Apave. \" It is vital that our customers know that we have done everything possible to ensure their safety and that of hotel staff (...).
