The axis Athens-France will see its offer strengthened by the arrival of Greek carrier Sky Express. Launched in 2005, the carrier serves a dozen European cities, including Paris CDG and Brussels, with daily flights..

It will be stepping up a gear this summer with six new destinations, including four in France. Sky Express is due to inaugurate routes to Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Nantes from Athens. The flights will be operated by Airbus A320neo.

Athens airport has announced a total of 13 new destinations serving the Greek capital this summer. However, it did not specify the number of frequencies planned or the launch date for Sky Express.. No further details were given.

However, Sky Express flights will be operated in a highly competitive environment. Lille and Marseille already benefit from Aegean and Volotea flights. Lyon and Nantes are linked to Athens by Aegean, Transavia France and Volotea. It should also be noted that during the summer, Volotea will be opening a new Athens-Toulouse route in competition with Aegean.
