The day after its Supervisory Board approved its annual results, the SNCF group published mixed results. The slight increase in passenger traffic (+0.4% on the TGV network) and turnover (+5% to 31.4 billion euros) are positive signs. As are the investments made by the group to secure the future (8.2 billion euros). However, the net profit of +377 million euros was called into question by the accounting write-downs, which resulted in a net book loss of 12.2 billion euros. "The net result reflects the effect of a technical recalculation of the value of our assets, against a backdrop of new, fast-changing forms of mobility and the creation of the unified SNCF group," says Guillaume Pepy, Chairman of the SNCF Management Board and CEO of SNCF Mobilités. "This accounting recalculation has no impact on our cash flow or on our development in the service of our customers and the community. We are pursuing our objective of making SNCF the benchmark for mobility and logistics services in France and around the world.
