Iberia has decided to send a strong signal to world markets. The Spanish company affirms its commitment to help Spain's economic recovery and to accelerate a new 'normality' in travel.
The Iberia group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum) offers flights to over 75 destinations in 30 countries in Europe, America and Africa. This represents around 70 % of the total number of destinations in a normal winter season.
In December, the Group will be offering almost 700 direct weekly frequencies departing from Madrid Bajaras. This figure is roughly equivalent to 40 % of the previous year's December frequency capacity.
Two daily return flights from Madrid to a third of the European network
Although the number of flights will remain more limited than in 2019, the company has worked on a programme that will make it particularly easy for passengers to enjoy their flight. daily return trips between the main destinations in Spain and Europe. This is one of the main measures to boost business travel. One third of European destinations are now served by two daily return flights. This is particularly the case for Paris or Brussels.
On 80 % of its domestic routes, Iberia is also offering at least two daily flights. This Monday 16 November, the carrier is relaunching its Airlift bridge (Puente Aéreo) between Madrid and Barcelona with seven return flights a day. An area dedicated to this shuttle is once again operational at both airports.
Iberia Regional, Air Nostrum and Iberia Express also operate cross-border flights within Spain and to the Spanish islands.
Iberia also strengthens its presence in Latin America. At end of October its links to Sao Paulo. Madrid-Rio de Janeiro will follow in December as well as Madrid-Caracas. However, this last route depends on the Venezuelan government authorising the resumption of international flights.
With flights to Medellín and Cali in Colombia over the Christmas period, Iberia will be offering scheduled and seasonal flights to all the countries in its American network. A total of 20 destinations in 16 countries in the Americas, including New York.
Finally, ground and in-flight services are gradually returning to normal. Iberia has reopened its business lounge in Madrid's terminal 4 in October. A meal service is once again provided in-flightincluding hot dishes, depending on the destination.
