According to Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi), theEmirate reopened to international travellers on 24 December. Visitors must, however, follow very strict entry procedures. According to the Department of Health, stringent health measures are needed to contain the spread of the virus and ensure the well-being of residents and visitors.
The first step is to submit a negative covid test less than 96 hours old to catch a flight to Abu Dhabi. On arrival, travellers undergo a second PCR test. However, travellers from countries on a "green" list are no longer required to isolate themselves with a negative result. Travellers from other countries, on the other hand, must isolate themselves for "only" 10 days.
Up to four PCR tests possible in Abu Dhabi
The list of green-labelled countries is updated every 15 days.. It does not currently include France. In Europe, only Greek nationals are accepted.
Once this second test has been passed, visitors will be entitled to two further tests. A third PCR test is carried out on the sixth day. A fourth on the twelfth day, if the visitor is still in the UAE capital! The bad news: all PCR tests are subject to a charge.
Note that theNeighbouring Emirate of Dubai has been welcoming visitors again since July with a lighter protocol than in Abu Dhabi.
Tourists must produce a certificate of negative PCR test result for covid-19. This must be done within 96 hours of departure. The Emirate is then accessible. However, another test may be required on arrival. In this case, a quarantine is compulsory until the result is obtained.
