La Australian airline Qantas has reopened its bookings for international flights with a date set for 1st July next year. The carrier is optimistic that a large proportion of passengers will be vaccinated by that date. Qantas had already announced in November that it would would only accept vaccinated passengers on board its aircraft.
The carrier is set to return to Europe with the resumption of its scheduled service on London Heathrow.
Qantas has aligned all its international flights to the same date. The routes on Singapore, Bali, Japan and Hong Kong have all been postponed from 31 March to 1 July.. Qantas currently operates only one international route to the United States. New Zealand.
Even though the resumption of flights is scheduled more than six months in advance, it has already drawn criticism from the Australian government, which considers the announcement premature. It pointed out that only the Australian government has the authority to announce the official opening of borders. The government has reiterated that its primary concern remains the health and safety of its population.
