The banks of the River Tyne are in full emulation: soon Quayside, this area straddling between Newcastle and Gateshead is set to become a leading business hub in the North of England, thanks in particular to a brand new conference centre. Within this new 14-storey building, the part dedicated to the Novotel will include 187 rooms. Business travellers will have access to modern meetings & events facilities, as well as a gym and restaurant. The hotel ibis will be equipped with 140 roomsPhilip Lassman, Vice President of Development for Accor in Northern Europe, comments: "The new hotel will be the first in the UK to be built by Accor, and will mark the arrival of the budget chain in this region of the UK. Our dual-branded hotel is a fantastic prospect for Gateshead and Newcastle. It will be the first ibis hotel in the region and only our second Novotel concept hotel in the UK. ". Above all, as Philip Lassman points out, the Accor group has become part of a vast redevelopment project, setting up shop at the heart of a highly promising district: " This is a great opportunity for Accor to be part of an area that has such a strong character and identity. Gateshead Quays has undergone a huge transformation over the last fifteen years and is now seen as a thriving cultural destination with over a million visitors a year, making it an exciting regeneration project to be part of.
