After reducing its service during the last lockdown, SNCF is increasing it again with the lifting of the ban on journeys of more than 10 km on 3 May. From four TGVs out of ten in recent weeks, the Inoui and Ouigo high-speed services will gradually increase to reach eight TGVs in ten on average from 7 May. At weekends and during long weekends in May, the offer is close to 100% on the Atlantic and South-East routes.
At the same time, the transport plan for Intercités trains is being revised to 75 %compared with 50 % during the period of reinforced health measures. The Paris - Clermont-Ferrand route has been increased from four round trips a day to five on weekdays, and even six on Fridays. On the Paris - Limoges - Toulouse route, six return trips a day are offered, with a 100 % service for the May bank holidays.
On cross-border routes, services are returning to near-normal levels. Seven round trips will be offered on weekdays between Marseille and Bordeaux, compared with eight in normal times. The Nantes-Lyon route will resume its usual frequency with two return trips out of two. Other frequencies announced: two daily return trips out of three between Nantes and Bordeaux, two to three daily return trips out of four on the Toulouse - Bayonne - Hendaye route. Finally, as far as regional trains are concerned, 90% of the usual trains will be running during the week.
This increase in services is also noticeable internationally. A second Eurostar a day should link Paris and London from the end of May. For its part, Thalys returns to 30% for its pre-covid offer to six daily return services between Paris and Brussels from 17 May, compared with four previously. Similarly, whereas only one TGV served Amsterdam daily in recent weeks, there will be three daily services from mid-May. Izy, the low-cost high-speed service, is also back in service, with a daily return trip between Paris and Brussels at the weekend.
Between France and Switzerland, Lyria offers four TGVs a day to Genevathree to Zurich and two to Lausanne. To Germany, SNCF, in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, is still offering eight daily return trips. Finally, to Italy and Spain, the high-speed offer remains at two daily return trips.
