In 2019, theAustria hosted 46.2 million domestic and international tourists. They generated 152.7 million overnight stays and 38.09 billion euros in revenue. In 2020, these figures fell by an average of 60 %.
Optimism is the order of the day for this summer, particularly for leisure travel. Business travel and congress activity could pick up again this autumn. Although most experts are now expecting a more solid recovery in 2022 and 2023.
According to the Austrian Congress Bureau, business tourism should return to its 2019 level by 2023. In the meantime, the quality of the offer, the safety of health protocols and the flexibility of the offer and solutions should bear fruit in the rest of the European markets...
