Since Saturday 4 December, the Swiss Confederation has adopted a new set of more coercive measures in the face of the surge in cases of Covid in Europe and the appearance of the Omicron variant in Europe. The Swiss Federal Council considers the current situation to be highly critical.
From Monday 6 December 2021, presentation of the Swiss COVID certificate (equivalent to the European health pass) will be compulsory. to access indoor areas at all public events and to take part in all indoor sporting and cultural activities. In this context, Europeans must present the EU health passport. The wearing of masks has been extended all indoor locations, including public transport. Masks will only be optional at events and in establishments that have decided to restrict access to vaccinated and recovered people.
For travellers to Switzerland, A PCR test must be carried out before departure. This test must have a maximum validity of 72 hours. This obligation also applies to travellers who have already been vaccinated.
In addition to this PCR test before entering the Swiss Confederation, travellers must undergo the following tests a second test. It can be PCR or antigenic. IIt must be carried out between the fourth and seventh day after arrival.. This second test is designed to ensure the detection of people who may have become infected just before leaving or during their journey. The cost of these tests is borne by the people concerned.. People who have not been vaccinated will also no longer be allowed to enter Switzerland.
The new measures will be valid until 24 January 2022.
