The Radisson Group will be strengthening its presence in Spain next spring by entering a key market for business and leisure travellers, Barcelona. To mark the occasion, the group will be flying its flag Radisson Blu on an existing establishment, the Hotel Barcelona 1882, located in the Eixample district, 450 metres from the famous Sagrada Familia. Its name pays homage to Gaudi's major work - 1882 is the year in which construction began - but alongside this evocation of the past, the establishment is also looking to the future with a sustainable ambition in tune with the times, embodied by a LEED Gold certification.
Also close to the city centre, the Radisson Blu Barcelona Sagrada Familie, soon to be managed by the upmarket brand, will offer 182 rooms including two junior suites, as well as a bar and restaurant. Business travellers will find 120 m2 of meeting and relaxation space, a roof terrace with swimming pool and breathtaking views of nearby Sagrada Familia.
The move to Radisson Blu is the result of a partnership with Union Investment. While the hotelier has just a handful of establishments in the country, including Radisson Collection inaugurated in recent months in Seville and Bilbao, the Radisson Group aims toopen more than 20 hotels in Spain in the next five years. The next address to be announced is the first appearance of the Radisson RED lifestyle brand in Spain, with a hotel conveniently located in the centre of Madrid.
