LATAM switches to WhatsApp for travel formalities

LATAM is launching its "Ready to Fly" service, enabling business travellers to send their health documents via WhatsApp ahead of their business trips.

If the travel formalities tend to lighten up in various business destinationsHealth documents are still essential for international business trips. The airlines are therefore continuing to work on simplifying these procedures, in particular through the use of new technologies. LATAM has just launched the "Ready to Flya name already chosen by Air France for an equivalent service, to be launched in summer 2021, even though the two homonymous solutions are unrelated.

LATAM aims to simplify and speed up the process of checking health documents, in particular COVID-19 test or vaccination certificates. Business travellers can send these documents to the airline via WhatsApp in advance of their flight, to 6 to 48 hours before take-off. The Latin American carrier checks passengers' eligibility to ensure a smoother airport journey, but also to avoid unpleasant surprises when boarding...
