Although Japan is only tentatively reopening its borders, business travellers will be the first to benefit from the upturn in tourism to the Land of the Rising Sun. To mark the occasion, business travellers will find a new base in Kyoto, with a Hyatt Place located in the city centre, at the south-west corner of Kyoto's Imperial Palace. In keeping with the Hyatt Place brand concept, the hotel has a designer atmosphere and relatively limited services, with a fitness centre and lobby bar serving freshly prepared meals 24/7. The former imperial capital of Japan is also on the Hilton Group's growth plans. Last year, the American hotelier had already opened the luxurious Roku Kyoto, under the LXR brand, while, in the mid-range segment, the Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma is expected to open later this year. To these two openings, the group has added a new project with a hotel under its Hilton Hotels flagship brand, which will be located in the heart of Kyoto city centre, in Sanjo-Kawaramachi, close to the central business district and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. Although business travellers will have to wait until 2024 to stay there, its contours have been unveiled with 313 bedrooms, four restaurants, a bar, as well as banqueting and meeting rooms and an executive lounge. Other facilities include a spa, indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.
Apart from the major hotel groups, business travellers with a taste for local culture will have the opportunity to stay from next June in an original hotel, the Shijo Kawaramachi Onsen, divided into two parts: the Japanese-style Soraniwa Onsen Terrace Kyoto, and the Bettei Kamogawa, which houses around thirty luxury rooms. As its name suggests, the establishment is dedicated to the Japanese culture of hot water bathsThe hotel has been designed to meet the highest standards, with private onsen in most of the hundred Japanese-style rooms and the thirty or so Western-style rooms, all of which have a terrace. What's more, the hotel is located in the city centre, just a few minutes' walk from the Shijo-dori and Kawaramachi-dori shopping streets, and boasts a rooftop with a vast overflowing onsen.
