The lifestyle hotel sector seems to be finding an increasingly natural place in the La Défense business district. CitizenM was a forerunner, setting up in 2017 near the Grande Arche and La Défense Arena, and will soon be joined in mid-June by an Okko hotel. At the other end of the district, towards the esplanade, it's a Mama Shelter which moved in last March with a 211-room hotel topped by a rooftop. In Accor's galaxy of lifestyle brands, developed as part of the Ennismore joint venture, Mama Shelter will now have its counterpart on the other side of the Neuilly bridge from 24 May, with a Tribe hotellocated in Courbevoie.
One of the French group's latest products, this new contemporary brand is starting to take off, having made its first appearance in France at the end of 2020 in Paris, in the Batignolles district. Further developments are expected in Saint-Ouen and Clichy in the Paris region, as well as in the United States. TouquetTribe's future therefore depends on its location next to the towers and headquarters of numerous companies.
" The arrival of the lifestyle hotel sector in Europe's largest business district, where it is not necessarily expected, is an interesting development, as it responds to the needs of a growing number of businesses. new expectations from corporate customers" says Romain Folliot, Tribe Paris La Défense's director. In the same way, this contemporary accommodation is just as attractive to individual leisure customers, who can extend their stay beyond the week to weekends and holidays. To attract travellers, " more affordable prices than in the centre of Paris, while being easy to access by metro and car - which is not easy at La Défense - with access via the platforms and a large car park." says the manager of this new hotel.
With its sophisticated design by Thierry d'Istria, the Tribe Paris La Défense is the embodiment of the idea of a "new world". affordable luxury by converting two office buildings belonging to the Orange Group into a top-of-the-range hotel of 184 rooms and suites. The rooms all feature work areas with comfortable seating and are equipped with Chromecast and Nespresso machines, steamers for smoothing clothes and hospitality products designed by Kevin Murphy, a renowned Australian hairdresser.
A nod to the fact that the Tribe brand was born on Australian soil, in Perth in 2019is also one of the school's main themes. The restaurant menu is inspired by these distant origins, with, for example, a meat pie revisited as a pie, a slice of beetroot - a very popular vegetable 'down under' - in the burgers rather than a slice of tomato, or bacon & eggs for breakfast. Not forgetting Australian wines and beers, of course. Travellers will also find a takeaway service available 24/7.
Following the canons of the lifestyle hotel industry, Tribe La Défense is not reserved for its residents, but is first and foremost a place to relax and unwind. a place to live that is open to its neighbourhood and to employees of neighbouring companies. " They can come at any time to work and exchange ideas, have a drink and enjoy themselves." explains Romain Folliot. The central point of the establishment, the "social hub" offers a variety of spaces and seating for all these occasions, from a table d'hôtes where several people can sit down to more intimate corners. A lively lobby that doubles up as a coffee shop and coworking space in the mornings and afternoons, then as an afterwork cocktail bar until the evening.
The first floor is home to what Romain Folliot describes as the " nugget "of its establishment, the Byron Bar. Here too, the name is a reference to Australia and its surfers' paradise, Byron Bay. The highlight of this bar is not only its cocktail menu, some of which is designed by mixologist Matthias Giroud in line with the current 'low alcohol' trend. Above all, it is extended by a green terrace and a Japanese garden, so you can make the most of the fine weather.
For unusual meetings and events
Aimed at residents and visitors alike, this space can also be used by businesses". for business or leisure breakfasts. be privatised for afterwork or events" adds Romain Folliot. In total, the Byron Bar can accommodate 40 to 50 people standing indoors, and can scale up to events of 50 to 90 people including the terrace. For seated meals, the Byron Bar can accommodate around thirty people indoors and twenty outside.
Despite its business environment, the Tribe La Défense does not offer meeting rooms as such. However, the hotel manager does not " is not above being inventive He also mentioned the possibility of using one of the hotel's suites with a terrace to rent out on occasion as a "guest house". atypical meeting place.
After this incursion into the heart of Parisian business life, the Tribe brand is preparing to discover another Mecca for business travel this summer, the district of Canary Wharf. " Our London counterpart" says Romain Folliot.
