The measure comes late, and is still very restrictive for business travellers. But it does have the merit of being part of a drive to relax entry formalities at Hong Kong. From 12 Augustthe quarantine imposed on foreign visitors will be halved, from one week to three days.

This isolation remains highly regulated, with travellers obliged to stay in one of the hotels selected by the authorities. In addition, after this quarantine, they are required to "self-monitor" for four days after the quarantine is lifted. This period may nevertheless be carried out at a location of their choice.
