The difficulty in recruiting pilots and weaker-than-expected post-covid demand on certain routes are reflected in the ongoing restructuring of the United Airlines. The American airline has already closed some 25 routes and is preparing to suspend a dozen more..
Most of these changes should not affect European business travellers, as these are flights to small provincial cities, which supply the airline's hubs.
There are, however, a few exceptions... In particular on the hub of San Francisco. United suspends flights at the end of the month to Saint Louis Lambert International Airport as well asto Detroit Metropolitan. In Los Angeles, the carrier is closing four routes, the most important being to Colorado Springs. The airport is the largest in the state of Colorado after Denver.
Another United decision: its departure from New York-JFK airport at the end of October. The company operated four daily routes, two to Los Angeles and two to San Francisco. The carrier is refocusing all its activities on Newark airport, its main East Coast hub.
Lastly, on the international front, United is suspending its flights linking Houston Intercontinental in Edmonton, Canada. Once again, the cancellation of this flight will take effect on 31 October.
