Salt Lake City intends to establish itself as a leading destination for the organisation ofworld-class events. And the capital of Utah is making this ambition a reality with the addition of a Hyatt Regency hotel directly linked to its Salt Palace convention centre. " The project was envisioned by Salt Lake County and industry partners more than 10 years ago to meet the growing demand for large-scale events." explained Pina Purpero, General Manager of the establishment.
Opened in 1995, the Salt Palace Convention Center, which played host to the media during the 2002 Winter Olympics, offers the following facilities a total surface area of 63,000 m2. Covered by solar panels for its energy supply, the venue has nine exhibition halls covering 47,500 m2 and almost 15,000 m2 dedicated to conventions, all the rooms - including a ballroom of over 4,000 m2 - which can accommodate up to 67 meetings at the same time.
To welcome participants, the 25-storey hotel now features contemporary design and works by local artists. Located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of Main Street, the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City offers 700 rooms. With floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the city skyline and the peaks of the Wasatch mountain range in the distance, they all feature a separate lounge area where you can work with complete peace of mind, complete with the latest technology including high-speed Internet access, connected mirrors and a digital room key.
In addition to the events, guests can relax on the sixth floor in thea rooftop terrace with an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre. The focal point of the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City's entertainment is the terrace, named Sundance - the famous American independent film festival is one of Salt Lake City's major cultural events - which is also home to one of the hotel's four restaurants. The latter, Mar | Muntanya, offers a menu inspired by the cuisine of northern Spain, with a focus on local produce based on the farm-to-table concept.
But the Sundance rooftop terrace also helps to make the hotel a new mecca for corporate events in Salt Lake CityThe Salt Palace Convention Centre is the ideal venue for a wide range of events. Up to 850 people can gather on the terrace for cocktails, and 600 for banquets. In addition to the existing capacity of the convention centre, the Hyatt has now added a MICE area of over 5,500 m2. Comprising 31 multi-functional rooms, it includes two ballrooms, including the city's largest ballroom which can accommodate 2,875 people. Another advantage of this MICE venue is its broadcast lounge, for conferences in hybrid mode.
