From Berlin to London, Budapest to Rome, a selection of the best hotel openings in 2023 in Europe's major cities.

Berlin

The Hoxton Charlottenburg (mid-2023)

The innovative spirit of The Hoxton is perfectly in tune with the golden age of 1920s Berlin. And it is this theme that will serve as the common thread for the the brand's first presence in the German capital. Located in the West, in the Charlottenburg district, the future The Hoxton is a design revival of an existing hotel and will offer 234 rooms, a cocktail bar, a café and a restaurant. And a meeting space inspired, appropriately enough, by the salons of the 1920s.

Sly Berlin (May)

A trendy new hotel in the trendy Friedrichshain district: the sly Berlin, part of the Lifestyle Collection de Preferred Hotelssly Berlin is part of the effervescence of East Berlin. Reflecting its time as well as the spirit of the city, sly Berlin combines in its decor nature and urban cultureThe hotel's design is a blend of oak wood, steel and raw concrete. Comprising four buildings - including a 200 m2 greenhouse - linked by open-air walkways and courtyards, the hotel will offer 150 rooms and suites, some with balcony or terrace, a restaurant with open kitchen and grill, and a large rooftop sauna.

Brussels

The Hoxton (spring)

Among the seven new The Hoxton lifestyle hotels to come, the one in Brussels will feature a coworking space.

As in Berlin, The Hoxton will be continuing its network of major European cities in Brussels, near the Botanical Gardens, in 2023. Thanks to its location - the hotel revisits IBM's former European headquartersHoused in a tower that is symbolic of seventies architecture - this new establishment will naturally have a business connotation. As well as meeting space, the building will incorporate The Hoxton's coworking brand, Working From_, which will occupy four floors of the building. For business travellers, there will be 198 rooms, a restaurant and two bars, including one on the rooftop.

Voco Brussels City North (autumn)

Part of the Living Tomorrow campus dedicated to innovation, the future voco Brussels City North is one of the new hotels in Europe announced by IHG.

The contemporary sign voco is one of the most dynamic within the IHG group, offering new addresses in the world's major cities month after month. In autumn 2023, voco will add Brussels to this list with a hotel focused on business customers. As part of the Living Tomorrow innovation campus, which aims to become Europe's largest experimental laboratory, voco Bruxelles Nord will provide a hospitality component with a 92-room hotel. There will also be a conference centre with a digital studio, creative meeting rooms and a 150-seat auditorium, as well as event spaces.

Budapest

Radisson Collection Basilica Budapest

The luxury brand Radisson Collectionwill move to Budapest in 2023, on the Place Saint-Etienne. A front-row seat to admire the imposing neo-Renaissance architecture of the Szent Istvan Basilica, completed in the 1900s. Not far from the famous Parliament and the Chain Bridge, the hotel will offer 71 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a lobby bar and a rooftop bar with unique views of the city's monuments.

W Budapest

Hesitating between neo-Gothic and French Renaissance, the Drechsler Palace imposes its bourgeois allure on Andrassy Avenue, the Champs-Elysées of the Hungarian capital. Formerly the headquarters of the Hungarian State Railways pension fund and the National Ballet Institute, this historic building dating from the mid-1880s will provide shelter for a trendy hotel in the W brand. Long abandoned, the hotel is about to be revived, with a lively rooftop and just over 150 elegant rooms and suites. The W Budapest will also include a restaurant, a fitness centre and a dedicated space for meetings and events.

 

Hampton by Hilton Budapest City Centre (summer)

In addition to the luxury hotels being prepared in Budapest, the Hungarian capital will also be home to new, more economical facilities. The Hilton Group will be launching its Hampton brand in Hungary, just a stone's throw from Saint Stephen's Basilica and the future Radisson Collection. For the occasion, Hampton by Hilton will be arriving in Budapest with its brand new concept. In other words, a prototype hotel whose façade blends into the street, with interiors featuring a redesigned lobby in line with new customer expectations, and rooms with a contemporary design.

Campanile Budapest

Already a major player in Eastern Europe, the Louvre Hotels group is preparing the launch of its Campanile flagship brand in Budapest. Located in the heart of the city, the hotel will offer 88 rooms and an interior designed by the Polish design firm Tremend.

Frankfurt

NH Collection Frankfurt Spin Tower (spring)

NH Hotels is set to further strengthen its offering in Germany's financial metropolis. After a luxurious lifestyle hotel Nhow In 2022, the Spanish group, a subsidiary of Minor International, will be adding a new top-of-the-range address in the Europaviertel business district. Close to the Messe Frankfurt exhibition centre and the main railway station, this 414-room NH Collection hotel will be located on the first floors of a new skyscraper, the Spin Tower, which will also include 10 floors of office space. All these companies will be able to take advantage, almost at home, of the hotel's MICE area, which comprises twelve meeting rooms and can accommodate up to 400 people.

Heidelberg

Hilton Heidelberg

In 2022, the Hilton brand will establish itself in the heart of the university metropolis of Heidelberg. Just a stone's throw from the castle and the baroque old town, the establishment will offer business travellers 244 rooms and suites, an executive lounge and seven meeting roomsall in a meeting space of over 550 m2. There is also a bar and restaurant, as well as a gym.

Helsinki

Grand Hansa Hotel, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt (summer)

After Paris and the Hôtel du Louvre, Biarritz and the Hôtel du Palais, the Párisi Udvar in Budapest and the Great Scotland Yard in London, theUnbound Collection by Hyatt is heading for Northern Europe with its first hotel in Helsinki. This collection of top-of-the-range independent hotels is preparing to welcome the Grand Hansa Helsinki, an ambitious project led by local group Primehotels Oy. Located in the heart of the Finnish capital's business district, on one of the city's most famous streets and just opposite the railway station, the Grand Hansa Hotel will bring together three historic buildings dating from the early 1900s, including the former Hotel Seurahuone. The result is a luxurious complex of 219 rooms and 5 suites, with vast meeting spaces, several bars and restaurants, and Finland, of course, a large spa with three saunas.

Istanbul

The eleventh Peninsula hotel in the world, the Istanbul hotel is part of in the Galataport projectA new luxury hotel has been built to revitalise the port district of Karaköy. As part of the redevelopment of this area, which is close to the tourist attractions of the European part of the city but has long been in a state of disrepair, the luxury hotel is revisiting three listed buildings dating from the beginning of the 20th century.e century. The former maritime terminal, for example, will be home to The Lobby restaurant, while another 350-cover restaurant, Gallada, will be built on a huge roof terrace. Hence the promise of unique views over the Bosphorus and the hotel gardens below. Naturally, the Peninsula has everything it takes to seduce travellers, with a huge wellness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and 177 rooms decorated with contemporary Turkish design objects, including a suite, the Peninsula, measuring 510 m2. Lisbon

Convent Square Hotel - Vignette Collection

Already present in Portugal, in the Algarve, but also in Vienna in Austria, the Vignette Collection will continue to expand in Lisbon. The new brand of the IHG group, designed to bring together prestigious independent hotels, will welcome to its ranks an unusual establishmentConvent Square Hotel. Right in the heart of the Baixa district, on Rossio Square, this luxury hotel is transforming a former Dominican convent, whose history dates back to 1242, to the time of King Sancho II. Organised around a cloister, the hotel will offer 121 rooms, a restaurant, lounges, as well as an indoor swimming pool and sauna.

London

Raffles London at The OWO, London (mid-2023)

An iconic building transformed, a mythical place - the former Ministry of GuThe Raffles at the OWO has everything it takes to match the prestige of its predecessors, including Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming, and is ideally located in the heart of London. its glorious elder from Singapore. Peninsula London (early 2023)

The luxury hotel industry has made London its destination of choice. While Raffles is transforming the Old War Office, Waldorf Astoria is getting ready to invest in a new hotel. Admiralty Archopposite Buckingham Palace by 2025. On its side, Rosewood will take up residence in 2024 at the American Embassy in Mayfair, the very place where Mandarin Oriental will be adding a second address in the British capital in the spring of this year. The BoTree (July)

Still at the top end of the market, but in a trendier style, The BoTree will open its doors this summer at the intersection of Marylebone and Mayfair. A member of Preferred Hotels' Legend Collection, the hotel is designed by Concrete, the resident designers of lifestyle brand citizenM, around lively, colourful interiors. The BoTree will stand out for an innovative concept with a system of sliding doors that will allow guests to personalise the space, from a single room to an entire wing. In addition to 199 rooms, including 29 suites, other highlights include a rooftop restaurant and bar, a private cinema and an entertainment venue for 450 guests.

Also expected: Luxury hotels do not have a monopoly in London. 2023 will see the opening of more affordable hotelsThis summer, for example, the Hampton by Hilton London Old Street in Shoreditch will open its doors. This 107-bedroom hotel, close to the Liverpool Street businesses, will feature an itailen restaurant and a conference room. At the end of the year, the long-stay segment will be enhanced by a new 147-apartment Adagio in the east of the capital, on Whitechapel Road.

Milan

Radisson Collection, Santa Sofia Milan (spring)

Following the opening of the first Radisson Collection in the Italian metropolis, housed in a historic building that once housed Touring Club ItalianoRadisson's luxury brand will be adding this year a second address in Milan. This time, it's the transformation of what was Allianz's Italian headquarters for many years, located in the city centre, in the Corso Italia district, close to the new Santa Sofia metro station. The contemporary design of the hotel takes up some of the essence of the building, incorporating 159 rooms and topping it all off with a rooftop featuring both a restaurant serving Nikkei cuisine and an outdoor swimming pool.

Gran Meliá Palazzo Cordusio (autumn)

Milan's luxury hotel sector will not be lacking in confidence. While Radisson Collection is giving Allianz's offices a hospital function, the Spanish group Melia to transform Generali's headquarters in Milan. Also known as Palazzo Venezia, in reference to the insurer's original city, this venerable building was constructed at the turn of the 20th century.e century as part of the redevelopment of the piazza Cordusio at the time. Its eclectic façade, with its characteristic concave shape, will be preserved and restored to provide a sophisticated setting for a luxurious 84-room Gran Meliá, with several gourmet restaurants and a rooftop bar.

Rome

InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace (March)

The British group is to apply its InterContinental brand to the former Rome Ambasciatori Palace. Located on the emblematic Via Veneto, this establishment was once, at the beginning of the XXe century, the building housing the ambassadors who stayed in RomeBefore becoming the library of the US embassy, it was a hotel some thirty years ago. The new InterContinental will have 160 rooms and suites and will be crowned by a panoramic terrace.

Six Senses Rome (March)

In addition to the InterContinental Ambasciatori Palace, IHG is to launch its Six Senses luxury brand in the heart of the Italian capital. Expected to open early next year, this urban resort will give a contemporary makeover to the 15th-century Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini.e century, under the direction of architect Patricia Urquiola. Close to the Corso, this exclusive pied-à-terre offers 96 rooms and suites some with terraces. Guests can also enjoy views over Rome from the rooftop bar, in a Mediterranean garden atmosphere. On the ground floor, Six Senses Rome completes its F&B offer with the Bivium restaurant-café-bar, which naturally focuses on Italian cuisine and opens onto an elegant terrace. Finally, the hotel also revisits the idea of ancient thermal baths, with three pools: a caldarium, a tepidarium and a frigidarium.

Bulgari Rome

Bulgari-Rome

" The most luxurious ever built in Rome "Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, clearly stated his ambition when he unveiled his Bulgari Hotel project in the Italian capital. Located opposite the Mausoleum of Augustus, not far from both the Spanish Steps and the banks of the Tiber, the Bulgari Hotel Rome will be housed in a modernist building dating from the late 1930s and designed by architect Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo. Covered by an immense mosaic by the artist Ferrucio Ferrazzi on the myth of the origins of the Eternal City, the place lends itself to a contemporary reinterpretation - but with a link to imperial Rome - entrusted to the brand's resident designers, architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel. Around a hundred rooms are expected, in addition to a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito and a rooftop bar.

The Rome EDITION

While the hotel version of Bulgari is the fruit of a partnership between the jeweller and the Marriott group, the American hotelier will also see the development in Rome of another of its partnerships, the EDITION brand, created with lifestyle hotel pioneer Ian Schrager. Located just a stone's throw from Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini, Rome EDITION will integrate its contemporary style into a rationalist building from the beginning of the XXe century, designed by Cesare Pascoletti in collaboration with renowned architect Marcello Piacentini. An architectural style that perfectly matches the spirit of EDITION hotels, in full expansion in the world's major metropolises. The Roman establishment will feature 93 rooms and suites, including two penthouses with private terraces, several bars and restaurants and a rooftop terrace with swimming pool. Both indoor and outdoor spaces will be customisable for events.
