Forty years of artistic production in a country where, despite the weight of the past, each of the different movements has contributed originality and vitality. This is an opportunity to revisit the works of the leading figures of Arte Povera - Mario Merz and Alighiero Boetti - or Transavanguardia - Francesco Clemente or Enzo Cucchi - right up to those of the current young generation. The exhibition brings together over 75 artists who have given new identities to Italian art, often in very different directions. Among the contemporary works on show are installations by Maurizio Cattelan, such as his new work welcoming visitors - nine corpses sculpted in white marble, symbolically giving rest to the ghosts of the Renaissance and the Baroque; installations and photos by Paola Pivi; and photos of Vanessa Beecroft's staging of naked bodies to create tableaux vivants.
