With its architecture combining modernity and Arabic motifs, it can accommodate four ships simultaneously, as the emirate has never been afraid of excess. The complex houses duty-free shops and souvenir vendors, a tourist office, a post office and a vast business centre with Wi-Fi. Boosted by the Emirates hub and its incredible growth in tourism, Dubai has great ambitions in the maritime sector. Dubai has succeeded in becoming the leading port for week-long cruises in the Persian Gulf, with stopovers in Oman, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The Emirate is expecting 60,000 passengers this year, with ships from a host of companies including Aïda, Royal Caribbean, Silversea, Oceania... Not forgetting Costa, which will be christening its new flagship, the Costa Deliziosa, on 23 February.
Dubai opens its new terminal
Following the recent christening of the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower, the emirate will inaugurate its new cruise terminal at Port Rashid in February.
