Hyatt will soon be extending its range of luxury boutique hotels with the forthcoming acquisition of the Mr & Mrs Smith booking platform, founded in 2003. The American group has announced this deal, worth around sixty million euros, which will enable Hyatt to distribute Mr & Mrs Smith's offer on its website. That is 1500 hotels worldwide ranging from the very best in urban hotels - such as Madame Rêve and Nolinski in Paris or One Aldwych in London - to more leisurely venues such as rooms in tree houses or underwater suites.
" Founders Tamara and James Lohan (Editor's note: from Mr & Mrs Smith) have set up the world's best collection of direct bookings of truly unique stay experiencessaid Mark Vondrasek, Hyatt's Commercial Director. We are delighted to be able to offer customers and members of World of Hyatt even more luxury offers in hundreds of regions" .
The advantage for both the hotel group and its loyal customers is that it can offer new hotels in a number of major cities, as well as a wide range of services.in some twenty countries where Hyatt did not previously have a presenceThese include Croatia, Iceland and Fiji. This acquisition, which is currently being finalised, should double the number of luxury establishments and boutique hotels distributed by Hyatt worldwide.
It should be noted that Mr. & Mrs. Smith had already joined forces with another major hotel group by being IHG partner. Since autumn 2020, a selection of 400 hotels has been available for booking on the IHG website, while the IHG One Rewards loyalty programme offers the opportunity to earn and spend points in establishments distributed by Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This agreement should soon come to an end with the merger with Hyatt.
